I am fed up with the lousy Outlook synching with my SE P800 and consider switching to a 9500.
So how good is it at synching with Outlook 2003? How quick? Does it synch the categories in Outlook? (most important to me, sadly lacking in P800)
Does it have active synch or do I have to start it manually?
Can I synch via Bluetoooth or WiFi?
i think you will have to wait till its released to get the answer
But I thought that the Outlook synching in the 9500 is perhaps similar to the earlier Series 80 models from Nokia? If so, I want to hear from those users what they think of the Outlook synching.
SE has not changed their synch software at all during 19 months of P800/P800/P900... (except bug fixes)
The 9500 is supported by the Nokia PC Suite 6.3, which you find here: http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite
Synchronization can be initiated manually, or automatically when connected, or periodically while connected (you select the interval).
Outlook categories are not supported.

Sigh! Is there really then no other third party software that synchs categories?
The Chapura synch software for Palm OS synchs Outlook categories, so it cannot be impossible...
in the specs they say sync to outlook 2002. we still will have the difficulties to sync outlook 2003.
i hope they will hvae a patch becouse if not i will NOT get the new 9500 :frown: :frown:
Synching with Outlook was one of the worst aspects of the 92X0 phones. The software was absolutely horrible to the point of being unusable. It will be the first thing I check when evaluating a 9500 or 9300 and if they haven't improved it dramatically, there's no way I'll buy this phone. Treos, while an inferior device, has synching down pat.
I hope some Nokia employees troll this newsgroup because the quality of their PC software is embarrassing.

Oh my god, thanks for this tip, I ahd hoped that Nokia with their longer experience in smartphones would have better solutions for corporate users of Outloook. The Sony Ericsson synch software is also a disaster, and has not improved at all since december 2002 when the P800 was launched.
When I talk to the SE support people they just don't think that Outlook synching is important, and they say "since the phones sell so well they must be good".
So now I will also wait until I hear some detailed review of the Outlook capabilites of the 9500 before deciding, and if it is not good at synching with Outlook I will take the final jumpt to the MS camp and buy a QTEK 9090 or iPaq 6315 or something like that. (I presume they synch well with Outlook!?...)
apparently nokia 9500 will support outlook 2003
