Problems with the N-Gage Speeker?!

Hi you all!

I'm new to N-Gage and the whole Symbian thing, and i have had my phone for like two weeks.

As you all know, one of the most brilliant features of the N-gage is its Mp3 player with built in speeker.

Im using this wonderful device wherever i go but i don't dare to turn the volume up to max, since i have a great fear of blowing the speeker.

I have a previous history as a notorious speeker blower and some really really bad memorys.

So anyway, my question to you all is if you ever have herd of or experienced speeker failure as a result from blowing it (playing to loud, or to much bass or something). And did the speeker suffer permanent damage?

Do i dare to crank it up to the max or shall i keep playing it safe?

I'm very grateful for any advice or even for a reply 😊

You all have a good day!

Greetings from Scania

Oh come on, like 70 views and noone ever heard of a blown speeker?

Well, i guess i should take it as noone ever herd something, and maybe i dare to crank it up a bit next time i'm using the mp3 player with the speeker?

Don't know if I've ever tried it, because I almost never use the speaker for this purpose, I always use headphones ...

But hey if they designed it right the speaker should be unaffected.

I activate the loud speakers quite often when in train with my friends, that too in full volume. The audio quality is reasonably good and is not giving me any problem.

One good reason why the speaker won't get affected is that it is made for gaming. If the speaker can withstand the sound of bullets in Ashen and Lara Croft then it is definately built for heavy duty.

Go on and blast it (not literally  ) in full volume.

Yes, they are very tough. If you open the front of the 3650 you see the loudspeaker, its a metal round disc that vibrates (obviously which produces sound).

Similar loudspeakers are in the N-GAGE and QD, behind that "hole" at the bottom.

They are indeed very tough and the build of them can withstand double full volume (but obviously cannot produce that kind of sound), remember they are designed for the phone specifically, and if Nokia didn't want you to blast out sound at full volume, they wouldn't have let the volume meter go all the way up to the top..would they? 😊

Well, if you think it can sustain up to double the max sound lvl then everything should be allright. But still if you're listening to extreme music like Einstrzende Neubauten or Rammstein then this should increase the risk of blowing the speeker? I have blown quite a few in the past..

I love the speeker, though the sound quality kinda sucks compared to a normal sound system it still rockz to be able to play your favorite songs out loud whereever you are! Perfect for the camping trip or while in the tub!

Well, reading this made me a bit more calm 😊

I guess that a blown up speeker is a pretty unusual thing on the N-Gage but i bet my balls that it has happened quite a few times throughout the world, and will happen again!

You all have a good day, greetings from Sweden
