Hi
I have been struggling with these 2 a while now... I can transfer files to the 7650, but I can't take anything off it or use the datasuite software with it- I get a message about it being on port 0, then a message saying the device has closed the connection.
I have read another post on this on the forum, but I don't understand the technical stuff in it really.
Is there any way to get these two to work- or is it down to luck? Should I send my BT back and get an IR device, or try a different BT dongle?
Thanks
Maybe you should try one of those bluetooth dongles recomended in the posts here,i remember that the TDK one worked fine.By the way, where did you get your MSI bluetooth?

You're luckier than I am, I got a bad adapter, it doesn't see any other device... I know my 7650 is working, as I can find a friend's ericson phone.
What version of Windows do you have on your PC?
I've got a MSI bluetooth dongle and it works fine on both Win98SE and Win2K 😃 - although you can get a updated driver from the msi website to fix an alleged bug with Win98.
My only problem is that sometimes on Win98 since installing Bluetooth and the Nokia suite my PC crashes.
Oh yeah I got mine from SCAN , and typically the day after I got it, it was 10+ cheaper on the todayonly page
LOL! This happend to me too! I got it for about 39 pound and the next day it was 30 😞
Guest, when you say your MSI dongle works fine, can you upload /download files both ways between your phone and your PC and vice-versa?
Many people on the forums have had problems with MSI dongles.
MaleBuffy, can you please confirm if the MSI dongle from Scan works perfectly?
If you mean that it can send from the phone to a PC the answer is no! Of course thats as far as I know for my setup (WIN XP Pro). Everything else works just fine! Even PC SUITE! But I have heared others that had problems with the MSI!
Yup, that's what I heard, which is why I'm reluctant to get one if there's the possibility of getting a dongle that works both ways.
Can you not therefore upload photos to the PC that you've taken from the camera?
No you can upload photos using PC SUite! You just can't upload files and photos from the phone with the Send via Bluetooth command!
This is a WIDCOMM Software problem not a hardware problem! WIDCOMM will release an update that will support this in a later version! At least thats what they say!
Ah, I see. Definitely sounds like a software problem.
Thanks for the info. 😊

ok heres how to get your MSI connection in the Nokia manager.
Assuming all software is installed.
1) Open mRouter from your systray and tick BT COM 4 ( can tick all COM 3 - 6 if you want to be sure )
2) Open the BT explorer from the systray
3) Explore to Entire Bluetooth Neighbourhood then click on your device in the Folders part. You will get a list of the services available for your phone in the Icon area of the BT explorer.
4) Double click the Bluetooth Serial Port icon. Wait for the OK box and click it ( it says COM0 but will be set to COM4 as standard ) You may now get an error about disconnecting, just OK it.
5) Click on the 'My Device' icon in the Folders part of the window
6) Wait about 10 seconds and watch the Bluetooth Serial Port icon in the Icon part of the BT explorer.
7) If the Icon has changed to a new icon with a green connector and green arrows Close the BT explorer and run PC Suite. If not, Repeat from Step 3.
This always works for me until I explore BT again or close the connection from the phone. Sometimes it takes 2 goes but never more than 3 or 4.
Hope it Helps.

Thanks Stot, I will try that when I get back from uni 😊
Install all the software that comes with it. After finished installing, configure the nokia in the WidComm BT (it is called My Bluetooth Place i think)
Look on the bottom right hand side for a BT tray icon. Right click on it and go to: services-> Bluetooth serial port -> your nokia
After that there might be some error message.....ignore it. Nad u r connected.
I have always used that method and it ALWAYS connected at 1st try. I can communicate both directions
I also use MSI bluetooth with my WindowsXP. It work just fine I can guarantee. All of the Nokia Suite functions work with no problem. There is a message that tend to make people confuse is that after connected it come out some strength message saying it was disconnected. Just go on and look at the icon at the status bar it will change.
Hmm I managed to get a bit further in the sense that it pairs and connects for a short time according to BT Explorer, but M Router never seems to want to connect
I have no luck at all. I can connect fax, or dial-up networking, but not the serial port. And the 7650 locked solid a couple of times - I had to remove the battery to unlock it.
Nokia club servvice center, here I go...
I can't get two way connection as same and do all instruction giving by u but it's not work again so serious anyway i think it due to window version i use ME what is your version ? :-?
No no no no no......
The solution is simple and was posted here a while back:
Open REGEDIT and go to:
HKLM/Software/Widcomm/BTConfig/Services/0004
Create a new DWORD key called "Accept Other" (without the quotes), double click it and set it's value to 1.
This works with my MSI USB Bluetooth key on a Toshiba laptop running Windows 2000 Pro and on my "Home build" desktop running Windows XP Pro.
I've attached a W2K reg file with the above mods, use at your own risk!!!
Go to the MSI web site, download the latest software! Uninstall the old and install the new one! The acceptother key will be in the registry! Change it to 1. Some people experienced problems creating the AcceptOther Key....if it is not in the registry the software might not support it!
I was having the same problem as some of you guys but thanks to Symbian that I was able to make my MSI and phone work perfectly. More power to you guys!!!!! :P
I found out my thinkpad a30p uses widcomm as well - but the Accept Other - does not help a "bit"
;-(
My versions
widocmmsdk.dll 1.2.1
wbtapi.dll 1.3.11
which versions do you have????
Hi All
Anyone experienced "Accept Other = 1" set as Default.. in the said software???
It happened to me. I even uninstalled and reinstalled it thrice (for various reasons, including once to check/confirm Reg key value) and it IS actually set to 1 by default. I did'nt absolutely have to do anything with the Registry. The file is (Tecom Bluetooth Software 1.2.2.16.msi) ... And it works just fine for all functions, PC <-> Phone, and no probs with PC suit.
But I'm still perplexed. Any musings?
I run WinXp with the MSI dongle, and everything works fine. When i need to connect with the PC suite, I just open mRouter, and click ports 4 to 6(serial port is on com 5, i think i changed it). Then port 5 connects(only when i also click 4 and 6!!!). The icon for mrouter in the systemtray then shows the connected status. Then i just open pcsuite and everything works.
About the sending to the pc. There was a post about this earlier which clearly indicated how this worked. In regedit go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BTConfig\Services\0004
and change the AcceptOther entry to 1. Do the same for
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Widcomm\BTConfig\Services\0004.
If the entry doesn't exist, download the newest Widcomm software and install it. Then the key will be there. Adding the key manually doesn't work!!!
hope this helps.

i also get the same disconnection msg on my win98 with MSI bluetooth, and it doesnt seem to work with Nokia PC Suite, any tips?
Hi, I'm having the same problems and i went to MSI's website but i dont know which to download. please help.
I finally got mine working but i can't remember how.
I'm currently on Asus Notebook, Windows 2000 Pro + MSI BT Key and software 1.2.2.4 (didn't use 1.2.2.5 as can't connect to my T68ie).
After reading most of your threads, i notice the successful ones are always on Com 5. I followed the guidelines on http://deviceadvice.info/phone/nokia/7650/howto/ but change my port to Com 5 instead and started mrouter after creating "Bluetooth Serial Port" connection. And it works.
Try it and let me know.
