Hi all,
I'm wondering if someone will be able to succeed in helping with my problem where Nokia, T-Mobile and Phones4U have failed miserably. I had to reset my factory settings after getting too adventurous with the SeleQ file manager and deleting my text messaging application (note: This isn't a good idea.)
Under the advice from T-Mobile, I chose to restore the factory settings on my phone (from the menu, not by typing *#7370#). This fixed my text messaging app (I'm assuming it re-installs each piece of software from the Z: drive), but ever since then my Bluetooth has been messed up. Whenever I try to access it I get the message "Bluetooth: System Error". Nokia et all have been more than useless, meaning that I'm still stuck with no Bluetooth. What I was thinking was this...
There are no bluetooth settings to configure - just click it and go. So, there should be no configuration files for bluetooth. So, the bluetooth app for each phone should be exactly the same. This lead me to believe that if one of you kind souls out there were to email me all of the files you think are associated with bluetooth, then I should be able to reinstall them myself. Nokia were unwilling to help me test this, so I'm relying on the goodness of your hearts.
Will anyone be willing to email me the files that they think are responsible for the bluetooth app? If so, can you either email them to me with the location in the phone you got them from, or can you post them on this board with the same info?
You guys may be able to save my phone from going back to Nokia for 6 months... please help!
TIA,
Mike
Why dont you just hard rested your phone with *#7370# ?
Some ppl who experienced Bluetooth: System errors got the 7650 fixed at a NCS or got a brand new one!
Try *#7370# and if this does not work, DEMAND A NEW ONE, from NOKIA :x
Thanks for the advice, but I tried that after reading about the hard reset in a different post. Unfortunately, it had no effect. I should have mentioned that in my original post. Nokia have recommended that I take it to a service centre, but my nearest one is miles away! 😞 So I guess I'll have to give that a go before I can get a new one.
Is there any one who would try sending/posting those files? C'mon, all you guys with bluetooth connections, IRs or GPRS! It's a tiny bit of bandwidth, and you might save me a major journey!
Mike
I would but I cannot send from the Phone to PC only from PC to phone! Sorry! Maybe someone with IR?
Or someone with email who can spare like 10p of their WAP charge! Isn't 10p worth it to help out a fellow 7650-addict?
Look Spikeymike, it is like this! If I were you I would return the phone since it isn't a software problem since you formated your memory and replaced the files that were in the ROM!!! Thas what the *# code does! Since the files are OK there is nothing you can do! It must be a hardware problem, or the ROM is corrupt! I would not want to walk around with a corrupt phone anywas, so you really have no choice! :-?
MaleBuffy... I know you're a forum <elder>, so your word is worth more than that of a lowly newbie, but I'm asking for the help of everyone, not just you. If someone else wants to be kind and offer me those files, instead of giving me obvious advice which I've already been given, then that's up to them. They're more likely to do so if it looks as though the moderators are interested in helping people.
You're probably right, my phone is probably corrupt. But I'd like to at least try and copy the files over to see if that works. I appreciate you replying to my post, but you don't need to assume that because you don't think it's the best idea then no one else can offer their advice. This idea is quite possibly workable, and it would save me the trouble of going to the service centre, which as I mentioned earlier, is a major journey. I don't mean any offence, but can't you let other people reply before you tell me that it's not going to work? Also, the only problem with my phone is the fact that the Bluetooth is not working... if I can get this working, I can wait before I get the corrupt ROM sorted out.
So, if there're any more people out there who want to try this, let me know. You never know, we may all learn something about the phone. And who can say they don't need to learn anything?
PS - I bet I get some sort of smart comment from one of the moderators for seeming ungrateful for advice. Either that or my post will be deleted/edited. C'mon ER6, give me some freedom of speech and some Nokia files! 😉
Oh my god this is a first! Firstly I am NOT a moderator just someone who posts regurarly and take this forum seriously!
However, I NEVER told people NOT to reply to your message, and never will! I just offered my opinion and help about it! I am not offended and it is trully up to you what you do with your phone!
As for your message, it will NOT be deleted. The moderators are very good ppl here, and like freedom of speech!
So good luck with your problem, however you are not the only one in this forum with this problem, search the forum maybe you will find some clues there!
Bye
i think the bluetooth app is installed in the z drive which is ROM so you cannot just overwrite the files with seleq or filemanager but yes you can overwrite the files with flash device or flash cable
this just my comment

Pichu - Yeah, you may be right. I do remember seeing something posted on a forum (could have been allbouter6) that stated that the Symbian OS willl search for an application in c:\system\apps or \data, then if it doesn't find it, it will run the one stored on the Z: drive. This would make sense, as it would mean that the progs could be updated without needing to flash the ROM.
MaleBuffy - Yeah, I edited the post a few minutes ago when I realised my mistake. Thanks for the advice, hope there are no hard feelings over the post!
OK, I think I'll bite the bullet and take it to Nokia. :'( Last time they had my phone, they took two weeks to change the power button!
