Contact List keeps getting bigger and bigger even when delet

Hi Guys,

First post here, so i'll try to explain my problem as best as possible.

I've been scanning my memory
and everytime i change something in the contact list,
whether it be delete a thumbnail, contact or add.. it gets bigger and bigger
i deleted about 30 thumbnails from the contact list, and now it's 855k when before i started it was only 450
can anyone here please help me with this urgent problem

the memory still exist in the phone and it takes around a week for the O/S to delete all the unused files
