A problem about ringing tones

Hi friends.. :icon14:

Here is a great place..
That`s my first post and please forgive if i make any english mistakes..

Anyway, let me say what i`m coping with..

I`ve got a 6600. I`ve loaded lots of midi tones to my phone and i want them to ring when someone calls me.
Looks simple..
I open contacts and i put the ringing tone in the selected contact`s profile.
But when he/she calls me, the phone rings in the default tone..
I`ve tried something else to find out if it`s about the midi file or about phone.
Some of my friends told me about this problem,too.. That`s why i`m asking to you.

BTW; it doesn`t any matter if i choose the new ringing tones from MMC or phone memory. New tones doesn`t ring. :frown:
I also tried to put them in "profiles" section, it looks like the new ring tone selected, but it still rings on default nokia tune..

What do i have to do ?? Any ideas ??

( Thanks for answering from now.. )

Put the tones in the 'Digital' folder and then re select them in the profiles menu and they should work.

There are two other possible situations:

If you have entered the phone numbers in your contacts list with spaces between the numbers then the phone will probably not recognise the calling number and play your selected ringtone. Although it is not possible (?) to enter spaces in a phone number on the handset, if you sync them from a PC with something like Outlook, then you might have put the spaces in there.

There is also a bug in S60 V3 FP1 V20 I think), that means if you have a large number of music files (songs, ringtones, podcasts, etc) on a memory card, then you will not see any of te ringtones whn you open up the Contacts and try to choose a ringtone fo a particualr entry. This does not seem to matter if you have yor ringtones on either the memory card, the phone, or both. Interestingly, the phone will use any user-defined ringtones that you may have set up before adding lots of music files, although it will stil not show that selectin in the option for that user.
The good news is that it is possible to set up the ringtones, but the bad news is that it is a bit fiddly.
Basically, what you need to do is o copy the ringtones you want to use for your contacts to the Digital foler on the phone as described before. (If the rintones are already there then you can skip this bit).
Next you need to remove the memory card - you can do this either by turning your phone off and then removing it, or by using the power-button menu.
With the mmeory card removed, turn the phone back on, go to your Contacts list, and you should then be able to allocate individual ringtones to your Contacts.
When you've set thm up, turn the phone off, and reinsert your memory card.
The ringtones should now work, but as I mentioned before, you won't be able to see (or change) the ringtone that you have allocated to each contact.

I suspect that it'll get fixed in an upgrade from Nokia, but once you'v done all that ad set up your ringtones, it doesn't really make much difference (until youwan to change them again!)

Hope this helps.
