Slow to retrive missed calls

Hi, I have heard a lot of people complain about the long time it takes to retrive missed calls both from inside (keyboard ) and outside (keypad), I have the same problem also.... It can take up to 30 seconds to retrive missed calls anyone has any fixes for this problem? it looks like the more you use the phone the more apparent this problem gets...I have Software Ver 3.54 and am too scared to upgrade to newer version...

you are right, this is a problem & not only missed calls, it does not regester properly the last dialled calls also. i also had 3.54 & i had upgraded to 4.10, the 4.10 version was perfect, it showed all the proper calls & fat , very fasy.
But i had other problems with some software , like colors & task manager & the phone kept hanging. So i downgraded to 3.62. The problem with the software is yet there.
Please dont upgrade to anything else. i yet think that the 3.54 was a very good & stable version.
Anyways in just a few days the 4.11 version should be out, i think that will fix all the problems.
waiting for that myself, hopefully all the software should also work cause ive paid for them & i hope the money will not get wasted.

I have that problem with 3.57 but I also notice that when I recieve messages or calls, the screen lights up and displays the message and it takes 5 seconds or so to ring or beep

yes u are absolutely right. sometimes ive already read the message & deleted it & then it goes beep. its a laugh )

anyways ive given the phone back to nokia to downgrade it back to 3.54, lets see if they can do it. i hope they can, then i'll be a happy man & will be able to use all my software to my hearts content.

You are a blessed man to have a Nokia service that does this for you on the fly. We all seem to live in countries where you have to wait a couple of weeks for a firmware to be changed.

The problems occuring with slowliness are linked to a slow filesystem or memory management on the PDA. All information is stored in files and sometimes it takes 'hours' for such files to be read. The 'wait-before-sound' is a good example, it also happens when somebody calls. The system then looks for the correct tone to play and (if personal ringtones are enabled) first has to browse through the contacts list, then pick the tone and then play. This will somtimes take a couple of secs. Probably Nokia has rewritten some basic parts of the firmware (hence the 4 in 4.11) and made that faster.

I've noticed an odd thing, it will load and play a 1meg wav file ring tone faster than it will a .rng ring tone that's just a few kb in size. I found this both amusing and odd.
