Hi all
Sorry to ask for help again, but im having a it of trouble sending pics to my email account. Whenever i try to send i get them message 'check email settings'. Trouble is, my settings are correct and i can receive mail easy enough
oh im with O2 incase that helps and i am trying to send via GSM
many thanks
Being able to recieve does not neccessarily mean that you can post mail, some isps will not let you post to their mail servers except from a recognised telephone number or your smtp settings could be slightly wrong.
I have two mailboxes set up, one is my orange one that lets me post and retrieve, and the other is my old screaming net one that I use for all my mail, that only lets me receive.
So what I have done is set my orange account up with the return address of the other one, so that all return mail goes to that one still, and the orange one just get used for posting, therefore everyone still just has to remember my one email address.
To the best of my knowledge, e-mail on the 7650 cannot be used with GSM data transfer. It's a GPRS only affair.
Emm...I am using Email with GSM Data! 😊
Damn you, then why does my mail (both IMAP and POP) refuse to work?! argh!
Whats you problem! Explain! Maybe I can help!
Everytime I try to retrieve or send mail I get the error:
"General: System error, try again"
I have checked everything in the mailbox options hundreds of times and tried it with and without security turned on. THe message comes up as soon as the data carrier connects (instantly for GPRS and a few seconds for GSM).
Any ideas?
Sounds like you are using a WAP access point!
Try using an ISP Access Point like the one you use with your PC! It will connect! WAP makes it impossible to connect to the email account!
Oh right. Yeah, I am using the Orange wap connection. Will the 7650 be able to connect to my normail ISP then? Or do they have to offer it as a special service?
No your normal ISP will do just fine!
You need to create another access point called orangeinternet (all lower case) call 156 from your orange phone and get them to talk you through it, I found it stupid that orange give you the phone with almost all the setting pre-programmed in but not the one for email, I tried using the orange wap access point and the orange gprs one but they didn't work and couln't find anything in the manual, so I gave up and phone fax and data support on 156.
This should solve it for you. 😃
Can you post the Access details? getting any information out of Orange requires a level head and patience, which I dont have!
Here you go:-
Connection name: what ever you want
data bearer:GPRS
Access point name: orangeinternet
User name: none
Prompt password: No
Password: ****
Authentication: normal
Gateway addres: 0.0.0.0
I think you need to base it on the default settings to get the password, can't remember typing it in.
