Driver Install Fails - "Wizard was interrupted"

8 replies · 3,558 views · Started 27 September 2004

Hello all,
I am having a serious problem trying to install the drivers for a 7610 on a sony vaio tr2 with XP home SP2. When I try to install everything looks fine, except at the conclusion of the installation I get the message: "..Wizard was Interrupted.." and essentially it tells me nothing will take effect. Has anyone seen this? I am really at a loss here. Please Help. Thank you --Dave

BTW running the PC suite yielded the same exact problem. I have tried both CD and latest versions for both drivers and pc suite. Nothing works.I have also tried cleaning registry etc. I really hope someone has a suggestion.

Can i suggest disconnecting from the internet, and closing any firewall and antivirus software. Also unplug any USB devices that are not needed during the install.

Also check with the inbuilt schedule software in windows that you have nothing set to run on new application install.

This may help.

I've tried 6.4 and 5.8 and neither will install they come up with that same meesage. It is XP SP2 and I can only assume it is a problem with SP2 but I can't uninstall that now

I have XP s2 and 6.4 works fine? Could be an installer problem on your PC.

Check install shield web site for your error message.

I have also tried the suggestions. Thank you all for the replies. Still nothing will work. I even went to Installshield direct and did all the updates possible. The nokia software is definitely to blame.
What is interesting is I have since installed other programs using the same form of installshield with no problems. So the problem is clearly something to do with the Nokia software.
For what its worth, you can uninstall SP2 in the add/remove progs menu. I just dont have the patience to try. If anyone has any success removing it and installing the nokia software, please post your findings. Thanks again to all whom have tried to provide assistance.

Same Problem overhere

Also XP sp2 according to NOKIA it is a SP2 problem, and i should uninstall sp2.
But i find that not an option. They would not do someting about it.... Strange though my laptop with also XP sp2 didn,t had that problem !!! what is the difference......

Hi, I had the same exact problem with uninstalling PC suite 6.2 & the connectivity cable driver. The wizard also drove me crazy by saying the "installshield was interrupted" for a few days. Once I uninstalled SP2, I was able to uninstall and reinstall the PC suite & the connectivity cable driver with no problems at all !!!
Reinstalling SP2 back again is your choice. I did and everything is back to normal on my PC.
