Had my X stolen at work *grief*, though it is still ringing off. Can anyone out there think of a way of tracking it down?

The only people who could are your network operator, 2nd level tech support should be able to isolate which cell it is registering on but may not be able to disclose this information as it is usually protected under company confidentiality or DPA laws. They usually only provide this to police following appropriate procedures and documentation.
Best thing to do is report it to your operator and see if they can blacklist the IMEI and block the SIM; thus preventing the thief using either your SIM or the handset with another SIM in. Then claim on insurance.
