Spanish update!?

63 replies · 8,011 views · Started 28 September 2004

Hey, this is a message for plynkikev.

I just want to know at which point are the communications with Telefonica Movistar to release the spanish update!! Have they approved it!? Or not yet!?

Thank you very much! Here in Spain we're waiting for this new firmware!!!

hola 😊

Pk told that they are waiting for the OK from Movistar (Telefonica). Sendo is doing his best to try to push Movistar to give the OK.... (Thumbs up for Sendo/Pk)

Im using again my old Ericsson T39 while Im waiting fro the new firmware 😞((

"this is the end......

my only friend ...the end"

This is incredible!!! Telefonica hasn't accepted the new firmware yet!!!! This would'nt be so serious if the phone was fully functional... but the spanish firmware is for the moment a May one!!! It lacks on RF, speed, stability... everything!!!

I'm actually getting angry with Telefonica!!

I received my Movistar X yesterday guys, and it is stable and quick...dunno, perhaps I have the lastest firmware????

And BTW, what's the use of the favaourites panel? I can't get any shortcut there to point to my most used apps??

Any help pr tip? Gracias! 😊

Hola Chispito!

Maybe you should look what firmware is on your phone. If it's a September release, you have the latest firmware!!

That may mean that Telefonica has already approved the last fw!!!

Saludos!

goto extras folder from the now screen, then about then scroll accross to the system tab and its on the first line.

Now - extras - about - system tab

The firmware is from May 17th 2004, the day my baby was born!!!!

May 17rh - that's old - is that version 1.2.<whatever it was>?

For your sanity, I wish Telefonica qould approve 1.56 - you'll love the changes!

hi

yes, only in the sendo page. Anyway, im sure the update will be also noticed here 😊

I wonder if Sendo could publish a "light" firmware update for all people that got problems with the very sloooow updates from the carriers(Movistar/Telefonica...) resellers(expansys...). I mean with light: an update that doesnt unlock features that the phones reseller dont want to unlock but make it possible to the actual customers to take advantages of the bugs solved in the new releases.

Im starting to think that TELEFONICA/MOVISTAR will never release another update of the Sendo X or if they do it... it will be very difficult to release another version after that.
This can be a hard problem for sendo to sell here in Spain more phones in the future. Im in spanish-spoken forums and all people are starting to say that they wont buy another sendo mobile due to this problems.
I cant recommend this phone now to nobody here in spain, indeed im not using the sendo X now(i cant afford to have only 20% of reception everywhere and so on).
Here in Spain there is a lot of potential customers ... but if the phone doesnt worth what we are paying for...
I have a little question for all the sendos workers: Telefonica/movistar can unlock the phone after one year... If someone like me unlock it after a year.... what will happen with all the firmware updates? I ll be able to update a "generic"spanish update?

I went to a Service Centre in Spain two days ago to try to give me a solution and all they told to me is that they cant update my phone. My phone is locked by an operator and until the operator gets free the firmware.... they cant do nothing. This situation is getting very strange for me....

greetings from Spain 😊

Javier

Hi,

I dont know what the situation is in spain, but it is actually illegal in the uk for a network to refuse to unlock a phone, they must give a user the abililty to unlock their phone by law.

It may be worth checking out where you stand in spain on this, you may find also that TELEFONICA/MOVISTAR will, like the UK, have to unlock your phone by law.

However I am not sure if this will help you with any firmware updates.

Cash: In Spain Telefonica/movistar can unlock the phone after a year by an user request. The question related to this is what will happen when i can have my sendo x unlocked in one year.
could I update the sendo x with "generic" firmware or ill must wait for Telefonica/movistar firmware releases (as now for my locked sendo x).
Anyway now its not a problem for me.... the important question is about the chance to release an update just to fix the bugs without prior agreement with the operator/reseller.

I wonder why Telefnica does not release the new version...it's in Sendo's page so I guess it should be any day now....I hope 😊
In any case my X works pretty well, what's wrong with yours, guys?

hola chispito:
my problems are: very sloooow menu navigation, very very poor reception (as bad as 80% of time i cant use it to make a call), strange shutdowns, and so on....

Hola morph 😊
I don't have those problems, navigation is quick and reception is good too! Most of the time I have all the reception bars showing...is your firmware from before May 17th?

Is there some good news Sendo guys?
Are you still chasing Telefonica?
Do you plan to solve our problems?

Please!!! tell us something!

Ive been advised that they are chasing telefonica for approval, once it has been they will add it to the firmware update site. Hold on for a little while it's imminent.

the problem stays the same if sendo don't place a generic firmware update....
if all the operators be like this one, then it like there aren't updates!
hope this change up sendo's mind

Monday again and no news on the update...I'm starting to get tired of this...I wonder if I could sell the phone...who would buy it anyway...

Thanks euphoriak, but we have been waiting and waiting with no official word neither from Sendo or Timofnica, sorry Telefnica.
It would be "nice" if we heard something, I just wonder what's going on...what kind of problems there are, why the "eternal" delay... :icon13: :frown:

Sendo was very quick...

Thank you for your enquiry.

We are already aware of the requests for a Telefonica software update version for the Sendo X from other customer enquiries. As a result we have monitored the situation closely and feel confident Telefonica will approve a new version very soon.

Thank you for your patience.
