9210i PC 2.11 crashes with Windows XP Service Pack 2

I have the latest PC suite for 9210i installed - 2.11 and have found that following an upgrade from XP Service Pack 1a to Service Pack 2 - the program becomes useless.

The serial cable connection is established - but ECtaskscheduler crashes and wiill not start manually so the PC suite application itself cannot be used to perform backups or synchronise contacts etc.

Does anybody know a solution - without a reinstall or system restore of course?

you firewall is on or off? several people are complaining about the SP2 firewall blocking and crashing programs, try to set your firewall to off and see if you can sync...

The firewall was on of course. Turning it off did not stop the 'EcTaskScheduler' process from crashing.

I am one of the victims of the problem listed here. And damn Nokia is not helping at all to solve the compatibility problem between PC Suite & Windows XP Infra Red connnection; and compatibility between PC Suite and Windows XP SP2.

If any kind soal out there had experience and solve the problems above, please post your suggestion or solution.

I have not backup my communicator for the past 10 months since upgraded to a notebook w/o a serial port. It would be a DISASTER if I were to lose my data on my 9210i somehow.

That's a bummer alright.
But may i suggest availing yourself of a usb-serial emulator if ever you cant get the ir-communication to work.

Yup, have considered that usb-serial cable but it's quite expensive. I found one that retails for more than US$35. But still the most important thing is: Does it work?

To Manila: are you using one of this thing to get your PC Suite to talk to your communicator?

yup. am using that alternative. since my pc doesnt have a serial port.

Manila: Thanx mate! Will decide if I want to buy the usb-serial cable after the official launch of 9500 here in Malaysia on the 23rd November.

Honestly, I think the 9500 is priced way too high. I might just stick to my 9210i for a while which still serves me well. Except that I am getting jittery over inability to backup my data.

well, if backing up is ur primary concern, then at 35$, i think it's a steal.. considering the sky high introductory price of the new communicator... of course, new features are abound on this new version.

Hi. I too have tried working on Windows XP SP2 and okia 9210i on a laptop with no serial port. Hence, I am using a USB-serial cable with 2.11 PC Suite, and whenever I try to backup the same, windows xp crashes after showing a rbief blue screen.

Can you help?
