the MP3 problem

11 replies · 3,694 views · Started 30 September 2004

i would like you all to test the following:

try to play an mp3, and while playing the mp3 call your X from a fixed phone (not a mobile).

with my X, it's like my phone is off and I hear the answering machine.

i have the italian Sendo x 'TIm mobile' it was originally.

installed apps:
Fileman
smartmovie
blzinstapp
sonicNgage
wayfinder
agilemessenger
pvplayer
mobiluck
resco viewer
appman
FSCALLER
quickoffice (quickpoint,quickword,quicksheet)

please post

-wether you can receive calls when in mp3
-after stopping the mp3 play if you can receive calls
-which applications you have installed on your X
- which X phone version you have (french italian dutch english or spanish)

I haven't had a chance to test this yet, but...

Mobiluck seems to cause some issues with the MP3 player - the annoying buzzing sound comes back with that application installed, even if it isn't running.

Test call 1 location = Indoors in known low signal area
Network = Vodafone
Country = UK
Result = Incoming call rang on mobile fine, phone paused MP3 player and went to Now! screen and showed i had an incoming call correctly.
Notes = Fine

Test call 2 location = Indoors in known low signal area
Network = Vodafone
Country = UK
Result = Incoming call rang on mobile fine, phone paused MP3 player and went to Now! screen and showed i had an incoming call correctly.
Notes = Fine

Test call 3 location = Outdoors in known good signal area
Network = Vodafone
Country = UK
Result = Incoming call rang on mobile fine, phone paused MP3 player and went to Now! screen and showed i had an incoming call correctly.
Notes = Fine

Test call 4 location = Outdoors in known good signal area
Network = Vodafone
Country = UK
Result = Incoming call rang on mobile fine, phone paused MP3 player and went to Now! screen and showed i had an incoming call correctly.

Overall conclusion
All test calls behaved correctly even in poor signal coverage area. MP3 application behaved normally.

Hope that helps!

euphoria, could you try and install mobiluck and see wether you have the same problem with your phone then?

thanks people.
I allready know 3 people with the same problem on mp3, they all have the italian Sendo x

OK - using the newer firmware (1.72.5.2) the phone is more stable with Mobiluck installed than on the older firmware. It affects MP3 playing less than on the old phone.

However, Mobiluck DOES still cause the annoying buzzing sound (sometimes) while playing MP3s. It does this whether or not it's running (I tested by un-installing the program) and it starts when the phone does a network cell switch, or redetects the network after being out of coverage. The buzzing should stop when the next MP3 track is played.

Doing more testing with regards to calling:

Test 1
Phone software: 1.72.5.2
Network: T-Mobile UK (known poor coverage area)
Phoning from: Landline
Applications running: Now!, MP3
Results: Phone returned to Now! screen, and rang as expected. MP3 was paused. On hangup, MP3 player was able to resume.

Test 2
Phone software: 1.72.5.2
Network: T-Mobile UK (known poor coverage area)
Phoning from: Landline
Applications running: Now!, MP3, Mobiluck (started immediately after finishing test 1)
Results: Call went straight to voicemail without the phone noticing. MP3 playing continued

Test 3
Phone software: 1.72.5.2
Network: T-Mobile UK (known poor coverage area)
Phoning from: Landline
Applications running: Now!, MP3, Mobiluck. (no changes made to phone after Test 2)
Results: Phone returned to Now! screen, and rang as expected. MP3 was paused. On hangup, MP3 player was able to resume.

Test 4
Phone software: 1.72.5.2
Network: T-Mobile UK (known poor coverage area)
Phoning from: Landline
Applications running: Now!, MP3. Mobiluck. (no changes made to phone after Test 2)
Results: Call went straight to voicemail without the phone noticing. MP3 playing continued

Test 5
Phone software: 1.72.5.2
Network: T-Mobile UK (known poor coverage area)
Phoning from: Landline
Applications running: Now!, MP3. (closed Mobiluck)
Results: Phone returned to Now! screen, and rang as expected. MP3 was paused. On hangup, MP3 player was able to resume.

Test 6
Phone software: 1.72.5.2
Network: T-Mobile UK (known poor coverage area)
Phoning from: Landline
Applications running: Now!, MP3. (no change from test 5)
Results: Call went straight to voicemail without the phone noticing. MP3 playing continued

Test 7
Phone software: 1.72.5.2
Network: T-Mobile UK (known poor coverage area)
Phoning from: Landline
Applications running: Now!, MP3. (no change from test 5)
Results: Phone returned to Now! screen, and rang as expected. MP3 was paused. On hangup, MP3 player was able to resume.

It seems from this that the get one / miss one call problem still exists...this is something Sendo need to look into!

it's good and not good to hear this.

good because: then i know i'm not alone
bad because: it's a big problem that needs to be fixed.

for me it's even worse: after the mp3 playing has stopped, for a whole time i can not receive calls. I haven't timed it, but it takes a big while for me to be reachable again. What i do is restart the phone, but that takes a lot of time and it isn't the way this phone ought to be working.

I sincerely hope the next patch fixes this all.. :con?

Speedman, I just did some more testing...if you UNINSTALL Mobiluck and reboot the phone, you should fix these problems. I can always receive callshile playing MP3s now that I've un-installed Mobiluck.

stuclarck, if only this was true, i uninstalled mobiluck and rebooted.

the first call i could receive, the second not anymore. After that, calls couldn't be received anymore and went to voicemail (which they always do when i play mp3)

to be sure it wasn't a conflicting program, i formatted the phone, then tried to call my phone in mp3, again the first call i could receive. The second not and after NO call could be received in mp3 ever.

others support this view with proof: they have the exact same problem like me. I know at least 3 people other than me. :icon13:

Speedman - when you do the format, are you using the *#7370# technique? I found that pressing 5 while turning the phone on works much more effectively at clearing out any old settings, and sorts out a lot of the phone's possible problems 😊
