accessing the sim memory

Press the menu button, there is a folder called SIM, click on it and there is an app SIM direct.! there are the SIM contacts!

or just make your left or right button shortcut to the SIM contacts. This way you get there much faster

so is it then possible if we use the contacts directly from the sim card, that we don't have to have contacts on the phone memory, thus saving valuable memory space?

just a wild thought..

Well I would not say valuable space, but some 50kb since the SIM has usually single formated contacts like name and number only and capacity of aprox 100 contacts!

But the nice features like thumbnaisl etc are made redundant! 😞

you've got a good point there.. about no more thumbnails..

Well no, It could save much more BUT lets say you have 200k on your contacts, you have to fit them in the SIM meaning that you have to delete most of them and the thumbnails and the emailadresses etc. So you may save more than 50k but you can only fit about 100 contacs with no thumbnails and additional details! This takes away a lot of functionality the phone provides! :-?

sigh. oh welll, just trying ways to be more memory efficient, you know?
too many 'memory-demanding' applications out there.. and with the video and stuff.. it just gets worse!!

The Sim holds just 90 contacts, but is even more limited as a contact on the Sim card is pretty much just a name and one number.

Therefore, if you have multiple numbers for a person, you must have a contact for each number on the sim. Not only that, unlike the phone, there is only one name field, so you don't get a split forename and surname as you do on the phone.
