PC Suite & 9210 worked fine with Windows Me, but under X

I'va taken a good look through previous postings, but cant find a similar problem to this; so here goes:

My 9210 is an early one - software version 3.18(1)
[can this be upgraded?]
My version of PC Suite is version 1.02
[I have tried the latter version but problem still persists]
Connetion via serial cable.
Windows XP with Service Pack 1 + MS Office 2002

I used the above configuration under windows ME for over a year, then upgraded to Windows XP. 😊

When re-installing PC suite an error appeared when registering the files "Failed to self-register Agnssync.dll". Now here;s the weird thing, the communicator connects ok and syncronises Contacts, BUT NOT CALENDAR.

I would be extremely grateful if anyone could throw any light on this problem.

Cheers

Gary 😉

>>>yes it is, only from a nokia agent compay... currently two new versions 4.13 and 4.14

Windows ME was one of the worst OS's of Microsoft -as if there is any good one-

I've used PC suite on ME,2000 and XP, with Office XP as well, it works fine with me. In my opinion, I guess the upgrade is the issue.

P.S. since it gives you the dll file that crashes the program, try to uninstall PC suite, delete that dll file and reinstall. but don't do it, if you don't know what I'm talking about.

I run PC Suite OK under Windows 98 at home. At work PC Suite runs under XP and it's crap. The main problem under XP is that the connection between PC and 9210 (same problem with 9210 & 9210i) gets lost during synchronisation (or file backup or file transfer or or program installation) causing the activity to crash. The larger the file, the higher the probability of failure.

I would recommend *not* installing windoze xp SP1, as if you read the license agreement there is a trojan in there giving M$ access to your PC to "modify vital files". I'm still looking for a big enough stick to not touch this with. Also there are toooooo many security holes with XP found in the first few months of release that still haven't been patched. TBH WinME was crap but it's safer and better than XP.

Thanks for all your ideas.

Hi
These postings saved my day. I was stuck with the same problem (calendar didn't sync). I had a system crash and installed XP, SP1 and then PC Suite 1.7. And got the same error message about agnssync.dll. After uninstalling SP1 and then re-installing PC Suite, everything worked fine 😃 Now all I wonder is, do I ever dare to update my OS again?

I am now happy to add to my previous message, that I finally re-installed SP1 to my XP (Home ed) and synchronization still continues to work. Calendar and all. So I guess the trick is the order in which you install stuff. First XP, then PC Suite and then SP1. I even went on to install Office SP1+2 and everything is still working 😃
