Are Vodafone going to stock the X?

Like a lot of people in the UK, I've been waiting for a UK operator to pick this handset up for a while. Last week Vodafone announced they were going to start selling it on Friday and it even appeared in their October catalogue. Predictably enough though, when I went to ask about it yesterday they had no idea what I was talking about (useless sales people.) Has anyone in the UK actually managed to track one down yet?

-M.

Sendo have confirmed that Vodafone are taking the phone, and they will discuss it quite openly now...I think Voda is just being a bit slow on getting the sales info and handsets out to the shops.

I'm going to be in Oxford Street tomorrow, so I'll have a look up there for it.

Elite, cheers for that, I'd noticed that Expansys have had it in stock for a while; I'm not really willing to pay that much for it tho 😊 Should be able to get it for free if it's on a proper contract.

Stuclark, I'd be interested to see if they have it in London yet; if anywhere in this country has it in stock yet, it'd be there I suppose.

Literally.

I got a Vodafone shop employee who actually knew what he was doing to "go into the system" this morning, and the X's are sitting in Voda's warehouse gathering dust as we speak (1pm on 15th). He was puzzled as he says Voda often bring out phones after other networks as they do more rigorous testing and send a lot of phones back due to bugs to the manufacturers. The fact it is in the warehouse means it has passed this phase and there is no reason to not ship it to shops.

they should be available in most Vodafone stores this week or early next week. Simply a matter of distribution by VF now.

A vodafone chappie (ok, the manager) in the Oxford Street store told me they are definitely in the warehouse, and retail expect to have them for sale in the shops by the end of this month!

read: after patch release 😉

I can't beleive it can take that long to get from the warehouse to the shops, but that sounds pretty promising anyway 😊

I also can't believe a couple of you managed to find people in the shops who actually knew what they were talking about!

Absolutely - haven't I always said that the UK networks were waiting for firmware patches before releasing the phone?

If Sendo are still on track with the next firmware, then the Voda version should indeed be out in the next couple of weeks!

Vodafone are not waiting for patches before releasing ther phone. The phones they have contain the final 'approved' Vodafone baseline software . It would not make economic sense to ship the phones to the warehouse and then reflash thousands of phones.
