Does any1 know if the Ngage has another cpu or chip
for 3D that other S60 phone don't have ?
If yes, where did U read it ?
couse i can't find anything about
this im the net ...

No, the N-Gage has no 3D accellerator hardware. All that the games do, are done in software (including 3D) + they can use a separate DSP (Digital Signal Processor) for audio (only).
Thenks for the Answer N/A ...
I was struggling with this for a while ...

1. What do U mean by "they can use a separate DSP" ?
The "DSP" is another Processor that's
in the device that only proccess audio in games ?
2. I know that 6630 has 3D Chip, does it mean that games that will
be made for it, will be better (faster and nicer) then NGage games ?

Well..
1. The N-Gage already has a sound processor that outputs stereo 48KHz which is used by the default MP3 Player, and probably be accessed by the games too.
2. I wouldn't think so, but it is a bit odd that they went to the extra cost of putting a 3D chip in.. :con? Maybe to improve video playback and recording abilities by taking advantage of the processing power, but not bothering with the 3D side of things. Are you sure its a 3D chip, or just a separate graphics chip?

Nokia calls it "3D API", but I heard somwhere this is a 3D
accelerate hardware.
about the second core of the procceser, so is this the thing
that makes the heavy games run smoothly on the Ngage
rather then other S60 with the same hardware ?
The N-Gage and N-Gage QD use the same processor as the 3650. All smoothness of games is purely done in/with software.

What about the 6600 ?
I heard it is supposed to be faster then
the older S60 phones .

6600 use symbian 60 version 2....hope you know it.. 😃
necromancer wrote:6600 use symbian 60 version 2....hope you know it.. 😃
Ya I know it, but does it mean that everything will run faster there ?
couse 6600 has the same cpu as the ngage
The 6600 is pretty much the same. The 7610 has a faster processor.
No, not faster because even though 6600 has the same processor as N-Gage, it has less RAM than N-Gage.
I tested the same games on both the QD and 6620 and to me the 6620 seemed waaaay faster. How fast are each of these phones processors anyways? I read in a PC Magazine review that the 6620 had 150 mhz.

Are U checking Java games or SIS ?!
about the cpu, must me a mistake
they both has the same cpu
but the Ngage has X2 memory (RAM 16MB)

Ummm I see 6620, has 27MB RAM ... weird ....
anyway, 6620 is out of the question for me
couse it's will not work in my country .
Ya, it's a mistake - look here:
http://my-symbian.com/7650/compare2.php
I was playing the emulated Sonic 2 via the PicoDrive on both systems, you can see the major difference, NGage ran waaay slower. I also tried out the Sonic N for both systems and both were fairly equal. I have yet to try out any SIS or Java games yet.......
On what systems did U try ? 6600 and NGage ?
What about other emulator? couse it's very impornent to
me the device will run roms ok.
but it's weird that there's a speed change , couse
they both use the same CPU but Ngage has more RAM.
Actually, I tried it on the 6620 and NGage QD. And yes, I have both systems sitting on my table next to me right now running the PicoDrive emulator - Sonic2 and Ngage is obiviously slower - not dramatically but since I've been playing on the 6620 for quite some time now, I can immediately see the difference. I just recently purchased the QD since the control on the 6620 is a bit awkward(but very playable).
But i wouldn't stress too much on the speed. I have yet to run the JBenchmark graphics benchmark test on the QD, and from what I see, no one has posted the score for version 2 (which tests some 3D) for the Ngage. I'll do that tommrow and post results.
Ummm, any1 with the 6600 and the Ngage
that can test the 2D and 3D outputs ?
Ok, I am definately positive now. The QD is definately slower than the 6620.....I am testing some Ngage games on both systems now. One in particular was already slow on the QD was MotoGP but ran alot quicker on the 6620. This goes for other games too. Anyone else who has both system can verify. This is kinda odd considering the specs of both system....

ummm good to hear, but it still doesn't help me much
cous i heard the 6620 is much faster then the slugish 6600.
About the ngage games it's not what i heard, I heard that only
the smallest and "light Grafics" games will work on other phones
other then the Ngage (graphics of the double RAM that Ngage has).

(due to the double RAM that Ngage has, 16MB compered to about 8 in all other phones).
Yah, with double ram, you'd figure it would run a lot faster on the Ngage. But not only what you call "light grafics" would only work on other phones, games like spiderman2, tony hawk, sonic, rayman all run fine on the 6620.

Just to confirm, you are all trying these tests with freshly formatted phones aren’t you. With only the minimal installed apps to test speed and stuff, like only having Pico drive installed on the n-gage when the testing Sonic 2 and not having only other games on the MMC.
I would also assume that you were using the same MMC/ same manufacture of MMC to test the speeds out otherwise this would not be a fair experiment.
Whatcha think?

I know that tonyH and Sonic works on the 6600 too,
but it's still what I call "light grafics", Does new 3D shooters
work too ? (Like Ashan, Call for duty, and Sims is pretty heavy too)
BTW, how much RAM your 6620 have ? and what's the cpu speed ?

No, I've been using 6620 for a couple of months now(it hasnt been out very long in this area) and been filling it with tons of games and mp3s on my 1 gig MMC. I got the NgageQD a couple weeks ago cause some of the Ngage games were not 100% compatible with the 6620 and I prefer the Ngage controls over the tiny control stick on the 6620. I like the 6620 better as a phone 😊
At first i ran the QD using the 1 gig MMC and tested all the games on there and thats when I noticed the major difference. Then I installed some games on the 32meg MMC that came with QD and ran BOTH system side by side for better verification and clarity(using the PicoDrive Sonic2, Ngage SonicN, Rayman3, MotoGP). The QD has nothing else installed on it except for FExplorer and the standard software. The 6620 has currently about 350 megs of games and mp3s.
There is no doubt that the 6620 is extremely faster in loading and in running.
DoorMan wrote:work too ? (Like Ashan, Call for duty, and Sims is pretty heavy too)

Ashen never loaded up on the 6620, Call for Duty I dont have and cant find but wouldnt mind if I knew where to get (hint hint) :P, and the Sims locked up when I played it. Not all NGage games are totally compatible with 6620 - not because it's graphic heavy but because software built specifically for the Ngage are technically suppose to be run only on the Ngage internal system. Even though these phones run Symbian OS, internally they are different. Thats why some 6600 software are not always 100% compatible with the 6620 (but close enough I presume). Thats why I got the Ngage in order to play these games.
About the ram, I never bothered to really check but according to this chart : [ http://my-symbian.com/7650/compare2.php ] states that the 6620 only has 8 megs ram with 4 remaining but when I checked through FExplorer, this is what I got :
6620
-------
ram (drive d: ) - free : 26.289MB
rom (drive z: ) - free : 0, total 22.0 MB
QD
----
ram (drive d: ) - free : 377.0kb
rom (drive g: ) - free : 0, total 16.625MB
rom (drive z: ) - free : 0, total 16.625MB
About CPU speeds, like I stated before PC Magazine states that 6620 has a 150 mhz [ http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,1651860,00.asp?p=2 ] but the comparison chart states that its only 104 mhz like the rest.

About the NGage games
1. What's the Highest Quality game that can run in your 6620 ?
(Besides TonyH)
2. What do U mean by: "software built specifically for the Ngage are technically suppose to be run only on the Ngage internal system"
Couse I know the specs are the same. (besides the Ram and the OS version)
Anyhow... I don't really care for Ngage games (Though it will be nice to have them on my device).
I care the most about :
1. Who will run emu's faster ?
2. I can hear music Good (don't care if Mono, but has to be good quality).
3. Overall faster system speed and compatibility to more Symbian Apps.
I know the 6620 has hardware mp3 and loads of ram,
But I can't get it 😞 😞 😞 😞 😞 😞 .
So my main options are 6600 and the Ngage.
What do U say neuro
( Lol I think your the only one seeing this thread 😊 )?!

Yes you can! EBAY!!!! Then get the phone unlocked....there are many ways to do it.....
