Joypad / dpad / control pad problems

OK, I have been playing Explode Arena lately and the d pad for the 7610 KILLS my thumb, and this is also the case with a few other games (although its ok for something like Sky Force mind).

Has anybody done either of the following

a) Designed a little 'control stick' which grips onto the dpad and gives you a little joystick on the top, I have seen this done for control pads in the past and usually works really well.

b) coded a program which will allow you to re-assign keys while the program is running (this would be awesome). This would give you complete control over which keys were in use for a game. So for example if u press 2, 4, 8, 6 this would actually press the button for left, right, up, down on the control pad.

Cheers for any help with getting my thumb a little less soar.
Nyx.

LOL! If you game that much on your phone maybe you should've gotten an Ngage 😉. I can see someone developing a cap that has a joystick on it. Interesting idea.

I've thought about this for a while too. It would be great if you could get an external (bluetooth or wired) joystick for the 7610. Either way, I really don't know why they didn't make the d-pad 8-way? (or dare i say, analog?!)

Does anyone know if such a thing exists?
