The adaptor you are thinking of is a small dongle that plugs in the USB socked then gives you a standard 9-pin D-sub serial port out the back. This was made manly for people with new laptops (like the Macs) that only have USB/FireWire ports and so people couldn't connect their old devices. You will still only reach top serial speeds with one of these not USB speeds. Though I'm intrigued as to why USB has a whole new socket etc and all this lot where you could simply tweak the UART on the old serial ports to achieve more speed 😉
POS have one in stock for around 35 plus postage.
I got myself one of those adapters.
But under WinXP Home I cannot make connection with the PC Suite.
Damn, I have no IR also, so please advice what can I do?
Did someone managed to connect afterall?

Because with USB, 1 port on the PC can accomodate 128 devices. 😊
Try Maplin Electronics,
They sell quite a few USB MMC converters, I brought one about 6 months ago for a bout 20, it works perfect and best of all transfers files etc... within seconds, unlike that poor lead supplied by Nokia which can take upto 20 minutes just to transfer 1 5mb videoclip!
I think you got a litle off topic. The issue is about sync.
I also use MMC reader but when it comes to sync...., god damn it, I do not have a com port and I cannot sync anymore.
