Can you sync using bluetooth in WIndows XP SP2?

Is it possible to use the bluetooth support built-in to Windows XP Service Pack 2 to sync with a 7650?

I had been using the drivers that came with my lapytop, and with a lot of messing about was able to get them to work. But they were unreliable and caused hangs.

If it helps the maker of my bluetooth hardware says it is "Cambridge Silicon Radio Ltd." and the original drivers were Billionton v1.3.2.9.

For basic bluetooth usage the XP SP2 bluetooth drivers have been much more reliable, but I can't get PC Suite to connect to my 7650.

Any suggestions?

The Bluetooth stack with SP2 is still rather primative... I have not been able to get it working, nor has anybody else I know (and on MS forums, they aren't sure) ... this doesn't mean it can't be done (by some kinda of "hacked" way), but because the BT profiles are so limited, I don't think "out of the box" it's gonna work... 😞 I'll let you know if I manage to get it working...

Thanks for the reply. Glad to hear (unfortunately) that it is not straight forward, rather than me being stupid.

Do you know if the problem is down to the SP2 bluetooth stack and a 7650. Would SP2 have a better chance with another phone (7610)?

Well, as it stands, I'm not sure it's the phone that matters ... in this case, I believe the BT stack must support a "serial" connection, and it supposedly does, but for whatever reason, ActiveSync doens't pick it up (in the case with me and my PDA) ... I'm guessing the phone is worse....

I will try it again this weekend, and if I'm successful, I'll drop a line here .... but, both myself and my friends who have done it easily on their Macs can't get it to work with SP2, either .... so, don't hold your breath. Let's just hope Microsoft actually improves their BT stack.... to half the level Mac has theirs...
