Hi guys,
Finnally got my Mitsumi Bluetooh USB dongle delivered and am having a few problems with it.
The dongle/software finds my Nokia 7650 OK, and allows me to Pair it. It also lets me send and receive files to and from the phone using the OBEX protocols, so i can tranfer images from phone to PC and put SIS files from PC to phone etc..
The problem I am having is getting it to work with the Nokia PC Suite, the driver hat came with the dongle installed the Serial Profile and bound it to port COM 5. This part is working fine, I checked the connection using Hyperterminal direct to COM5 and it produced lots of data meaning the connection is working.
I can also select COM 5 in the Nokia mRouter application called "Connection Properties" this bit is OK. But the problem arises when I start the Suite, a message comes up syaing "this is the first time you have used it" etc. "Press OK to continue" If I click OK, nothing happens, the screen just stays as it is, no matter how many times I click it.
I was puzzeled, so I opened the Nokia Connection Manager which was hiding in the task bar and for some reason it will only let me select COM1 or COM2 from here, even though I can select ports Com1 through Com8 in the Connection Properties.
Anyone had similar problems, or know how to help?
Cheers
it could be your machine got mix up by other external devices example, scanner, printer, hub, etc
btw, what OS are you using on your PC?

I had similar problems, but I don't know how to help.
The problem is that the Mitsumi software won't make the connection until an application tries to use that port, but the Nokia app won't open untill the connection's active.
I ended up getting a different dongle and giving the Mitsumi to my girlfriend, but let me know if you sort this out :-/
shit, i cant really afford another dongle 😞
I've got a wavelinker dongle, and after having problems with the software, I thought I'd give some of the other drivers that are available for other dongles a go. It seems that most dongles use the same chipsets, so other software drivers may work with your dongle. Here are some that you may want to try. Dont forget to uninstall, and remove your dongle before you install the new drivers.
Widcomm drivers:

I decided to use these drivers, even though I can't push files from the phone to the PC. They seem to have better networking support, which is what I want the most, since I've setup a small bluetooth network between two PCs.
Blue Manager drivers:

These are the ones that shipped with my dongle. I had the issue with PC suite too, but at this download page there is a fix for the n7650. I havent tried the fix, because I would rather use the widcomm software.
Good luck, and lets us know how you get on.
Andy.

What you need to do is
remove Nokia connection manager from your computer - it's not needed as mrouter deals with it
start up your bluetooth software and make sure it can find your phone
make a note of your com port number(s)(on mine there were two needed for serial connections)
make sure bluetooth software is set to the lowest security settings
make sure phone is 'visible to all'
make sure neither your Bluetooth software and PC suite are in the startup menu on windows
if mrouter is open you'll need to restart your computer
---
Now open pc suite - It'll say it's never been used etc.
mrouter will be in you menubar double click on the symbol to open it - choose your com port(s) -
it should now tell you your phone is connected
if pcsuite hasn't detected you phone at this time, close the pc suite software and reopen it - should now connect.
hope this helps
Cheers wahchild and ephebe I will give these ideas a try when I get home (tonight hopefully!).

Thanks a million! 😊
I use the mitsumi dongle with the Blue Manager drivers (link found in a post in this thread) and it works great now.
EDT: pc suite 1.1.0 hangs when doing a backup (says closing programs and just sits there.) 1.0.0 works great though.
