GPRS reception bug

When I am in an area of low recpetion, which sadly I live in, i usually get around 3 bars fluctuating GPRS recpetion which is fine, but sometimes (quite often) the bars will drop and the GPRS indicator will cross out (i.e. no recpetion). It will stay like this indefinately, so no internet or mail, until the phone has been power cycled, then it will return to the 3 bars untill the recpetion drops again and i have to power cycle again.

This HAS to be a bug, and it's f**king annoying especially when it drops when your in the middle of browsing, you have to shutdown and start again.

Anyone else with similar woes?

It's your provider, the nearest site (antenna) can't handle the data of your and other mobile phone users that are in the area near that site. A phone is always looking for the best signal but when a site is full then it has to look for an other site what can mean that the signal becomes less.

What headshox described is some kind of compatibility problem between GPRS phone and network. I don't know exactly why this happens (some engineer might know, but won't say because of NDA) but it occurs with all GPRS phones (so far).

There is no quick solution to this problem.
