i am placing my 128mb mmc in to the card reader but when i try and send symbian files on to the card they are on there but i cannot find them on my phone. I can find all other things such as videos and music but they had ready made folders on the card. there is a folder called "system" with another folder inside that called "favourites" on the card but i cannot find these on the phone either
Any help would be greatly appreciated Cheers
If you have FExplorer on your phone, everything would be tons easier. But if you havent dont it yet, do this :
- put whatever files you're trying to install in the root directory of the MMC card (the e: directory).
- When you put the MMC in the Ngage
- Go to TOOLS folder, and then MANAGER. You should see all the .SIS files or .JAR files you put in. If not, then you put the files in the wrong places or your Ngage is about to wreck(thats what happen to me)
- Highlight it and it should give you the option install it.
- Always install all your apps to the MMC card! (except for FExplorer - but thats just my preference)
- After file is installed, if its Symbian APP, you should see the icon in the main menu. But if its a JAR file, then you can usually get it from the EXTRA/APPS folder.
what is and where do u find the root directory becuase i have nothing like that on my mmc card just folders that i have made then i have these
sounds - digital
systems - favourites
videos
"Root Directory" is not actually a directory, infact it's just the basic drive name. For Eg., the root directory for your harddrive may be "C:\", the root directory for your CD-ROM\RW might be "D:\" and the card reader be "E:\".
Thus when you open the card from the icon in "My Computer", you actually open up the root directory of the card.
I hope you understand now that "E:\" (may vary) is your root directory and sounds, digital, systems, favourites and videos are folders which are inside the root directory.
Just copy paste the sis file of FExplorer in the root directory (thus you will be able to see that file with the above mentioned folders) and then run the "Manager" from "Tools" to install application.
