Internet connection sharing using Bluetooth and SX1

1 replies · 2,739 views · Started 23 October 2004

Hello all,

I would like to share my PC's network connection with my SX1 over Bluetooth. So basically I'd like to connect my SX1 with my PC and have IP connectivity.

Could you please tell me how to achieve this ? I have a Belkin BT dongle and currently also mRouter Beta 3.0 installed.

Thanks a lot!

Daniel

Internet over Bluetooth
This guide is to show you how to use your PCs internet connection
for your SX1 over Bluetooth. What do you need?
- a PC with internet connection (preferably DSL)
- a Bluetooth dongle
- SX1
The Bluetooth dongle should off course be installed and configured
on your pc. In addition the Siemens Data Suite should be installed
together with mRouter software (contained in Data Suite).

In the device you should create a new accesspoint. For this, go to
setup -> settings -> connection -> access points. Then choose
options -> new access point -> use default settings. Then you should
copy the following settings. You shouldn't need to have to change
much.

Connection name: arbitrarily e.g. Blue DSL
Data bearer: GPRS
Access point name: None
User name: None
Prompt password: No
Password: (nothing)
Authentication: secure
Gateway IP address: 0.0.0.0

Your PC should be connected to the internet. Now you create a serial
Bluetooth connection between your PC and your Mobile. In your
Systemtray the mRouter symbol should look like in the picture: Now
your connection is ready for use.
Note: If you should have to problems with the Bluetooth connection,
first enable the Bluetooth connection and then start the internet
connection.
