N-gage can bypass ip security?

7 replies · 2,615 views · Started 23 October 2004

Ok i have made posts before saying that i get free access to Optus yes info internet...

I am on pre-paid and understand that i should not be able to access the internet at all. Well i have no special settings and i can still use it! however, i put the sim card in another phone and the internet wouldn't work, it said Check IP.

So i am starting to think that the n-gage qd can bypass IP security??? if anyone got an optus sim and a n-gage qd try connecting to Yes info internet.

ok post ur comments here

Well, I don't think Nokia would have made the N-Gage as a hacking device.. but it may be the way it connects, and the used protocols that affect whether the IP is checked or whatever.

Jas0nuk : ??!! Isn't that pretty obvious. Besides you can't just go on using any protocol you wan't, the service must support it.

mysticfire2 : Which another phone did you put the sim card in? I'm making a guess that it wasn't an Ngage.

Just insert the same simcard in another ngage :
1. If the net works then probably, yes the Ngage can bypass ip checking.
2. If it doesn't then I guess the card works only with the registered IP or the registered EMI, whichever applicable.

Heh Heh.
I also get free internet on my optus prepaid using "yesinfo internet"... 😃

But, my friend with a normal n-gage cant seem to get it, i use an n-gage QD.
It's pretty cool, really. Add me to msn: [email protected] so we can discuss this further
