is there any other application/software that can do that? including fake/flash sms? and also that trick that SMSXtender does.. which can send sms and make it seem like the sms was from someone else! i think SMSXtender is a really good application and idea but its just too commercial! i would love to have a freeware type of thing that can do the same thing! i would even make my own software if i have to learn it because right now i dont know nothing! :redface:

You can't do it with an application on the phone alone. You have to have a server, too, which connects to an operator's SMSC (Short Message Service Center) like SMSXtender does (and you need to make a contract with the operator who owns the SMSC for its use & pay for it). In other words, there is no free lunch.
hiya, just to confirm what na says.
I have coded (for the last two years!) an SMS Gateway. In order to send an SMS you have to join with an SMSC and when you sign the contract you actually have to agree that you will not use an originator which will fake / or be used for any unlawful purpose. In doing this we have not allowed clients (who use the web site which was developed to send SMS's, bulk sms etc) to specify the originator field. When they do want to change it they have to send the request in to us and we change the originator field as long as we are satisifed it is safe. Most of our clients use an alpha originator anyway so doesn't normally cause a problem.

actually - there is such an application - its called prankster sms - check out www.seedbase.com for more information...
Actually no; Prankster also works through a separate server like SMSXtender and not directly from the phone to the operator's messaging server.
the application is exactly what the original poster asked for
you dont have to set up any separate server or anything like that - download the app - everything else is done for you - there you have it - free lunch
