BT Carkit Release date - no time soon!

7 replies · 3,503 views · Started 25 October 2004

Just come off the phone to Sendo's UK office. I asked about a release date for the BT CarKit having noticed that Expansys are reckoning to have it in 7 days (don't they always)!

Anyhoo, the very nice lady on the phone checked with someone higher up with the result that we now have the following info.

1. It's on their price list but they don't have any

2. It's being made by a French company (Parrot obviously)

and get this... I'm sure I heard it right

3. Parrot aren't making the product yet.

So looks like a long wait....... unless of course.... the kit is just a rebadged Parot CK3000!

Anyone know for sure if this is the case?

Anyone got a CK3000 and tried it with the X?

Hi Paul,

I've got the Sendo BT Car Kit (well, I would have, wouldn't I 😊) , and it works fine - mutes the radio when in-call, does re-dial and voice dial from the two buttons, and works OK.

I'm a bit confused as to the advice you were given, so will need to check on that.

My brother has the CK3300 from parrot,

He uses it with bluetooth GPS navigation and GPS speed detector software also and says the system works superbly, at the moment he uses it with his 6600, but when sendo have sorted out the firmware he will get his "X" and hopefully it will just start working OK

The CK3300 is the only bluetooth carkit on the market to incorporate bluetooth GPS for navigation etc as far as I know so it maybee worth you looking at that if thats a feature you may want in the future.

Hi PK

You have the Car Kit 😮 :con? I need a smiley for really, really, really puzzled!

Glad to hear that it works well. Can I just check.... It uses the phone's voice recognition and contacts list to dial and does not need a seperate recording of "voice tags"?

If you can dig around a bit and find out when/where us lesser mortals can get hold of it that would be appreciated 😉 .

Hi Cash

Thanks for that. I've been looking at the Parrot stuff. My only concern is that I don't know if the Parrot kit will use the Sendo's internal voice recognition / contact list. This is a really nice feature and I'd hate to have to record seperate voice tags for each contact.

The blurb on the Sendo site suggests that pressing the call button on the Sendo kit is eqivalent to pressing the voice recognition button on the phone. This is reassuring. What I'd really like to know is does the same happen with the Parrot 3xxx?

Hi Paul,

Yes, the green call button of the car kit does activate the voice dial function, just as the side button of the handset. No additional voice tags are needed.

Is this for the Sendo, the Parrot CK3000 or both?

Hi Paul,

I am not sure about the voice activation stuff, at the moment I live in France so cant try my X in my brothers kit untill I go back to the UK which wont be anytime soon, and untill my brother gets his X I am afraid thats going to be an unknown variable,

Perhaps if you emailed Parrot they may be able to tell you.
