Backing up/restoring OS and a few other bits

Hi all,
Just recently got a p800 (3 days ago) and after nearly killing it already with a crappy freeware IR remote control app i thought it would be a good idea to come and chat to some people that have a bit more experience with the system 😊

Sorry if all these have already been answered before and REALLY sorry if these are the types of questions that get asked by every newb that comes on the boards for the 1st time ( i did have a look through and couldnt see answers to everything i wanted).

1st off is there anyway to compleate backup/restore the whole phone (not just settings, contacts etc)? I dont like the idea of have a "computer" that i cant reinstall if it all goes wrong.

Is there anything i should know about the p800 in advance ( such as flash updates/fixes etc that should be applied)?

Also can anyone suggest any other links to websites that either provide realible software or more good information about p800.

Thanks.

A master reset will restore the phone to it's original state, so there is no need to worry about that. If you REALLY screw things up, then it has to be taken to an SE service centre, but that's rare.

However, you should probably take it to a service centre if you don't have the latest firmware (there should be something in the stickies to tell you what the latest is). They can update the phone for you. No online updates I'm afraid.

As for sites selling software. Well, if you look on the homepage of this site, there is an article on the best free software for the phone. There is also a shop selling all the best UIQ software (actually, the shop is the Handango one, but if you go to it via the link at the top of this page, Allaboutsymbian gets a small fraction of whatever you spend there to go towards the running costs of this site) and links to various other symbian phone sites.
