Remarkable move by Sony Ericsson...

Infosyncworld reports that Nokia and Sony Ericsson have joined the SD Card association! Reports about Nokia joining had emerged earlier already, but now SE has joined too. This is a remarkable move by SE, since they always were dedicated to Sony's Memory Stick Duo.

Does this mean SD cards in a new P-Series? What do you guys think?

It would be fantastic, but I doubt it. Maybe they're just hedging their bets. Even if it does end up in a future SE phone, it won't be the next P series if they've only just joined.

Memory sticks are the sole reason I haven't purchased a p800, p900, or p910, and it has also kept me away from the DSC-T1, and likely will keep me away from the T-3 and T-11.

Wishful thinking, but I'd love it if they scrapped the whole memory card line! 😉

I remember seing a very early P800 prototype with MMC in lieu of MS. So obviously the thought was already there, at least from Ericsson's side.

Ericsson have actually used MMC in a "real" product as well! I still have an old "click-on" ericsson mp3 player lying here, and that one used MMC as well.... (doesn't work on the P900 though, it isn't recognized :frown: )

The first P800 prototype I saw (early summer 2002) had no memory card slot whatsoever. I don't think there ever was one with MMC.

Hmm. That's of course at odds with what I remember. I saw them around the same time, April-June 2002. It was via som ex-colleagues. I specifically pressed them on the issue of MMC vs MS, but didn't get a clear answer at the time, which I interpreted as there was a discussion going on internally.

Anyhow, if you're sure, it's a sign I'm getting old...
