Guys,
What's the maximum size of the MMC card supported by the 9500? I think I've seen it somewhere but I can't seem to find it right now. I've also looked in the manual, but it doesn't say... Anyone know?
Thanks!

Std MMC And RS MMC are Compitable with that.
Std MMC is about 2Gb(Haven't Seen) Highest

The 9500 has been tested up to 1gig and passes.

TheJoker wrote:That's cool if they support those sizes! 😃 I know the P800 only supports 128mb MS Duo... 😞 So I really hope that Nokia has built in full support for large cards; and as the MMC cards are cheaper too, I think that the 9500 can be used for quite some cool stuff in the future!

Hi Ewan,
are you sure? I checked with a Nokia guy here at the Nokia Mobility Conference and he said that the maximum that has been tested and worked was 512 MB for both 9500 and 9300.
At least this is an improvement, but 1 GB cards would be better 😊
Cheers,
I think Ewan actually has one himself, so my guess is he tested it himself. Besides, at the AAS Pub Meet, the Nokia guy said up to 2GB would be possible
Many reviewers including Michal from My-Symbian stated the same,2GB.
I talked to another Nokia person and she stated that at least up to 1 GB MMC should work. At least Nokia personnel at the conference here is not very persitent.
Moby Memory has got pictures of a 9210i running up to 1gb MMC card:

I doubt that the 9500 should be any "worse" than the 9210i 😃
Was in contact with Nokia Careline and the reply was that both 9500 and 9300 supports MMC up to 2GB.
2GB Card:

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!! 😃 Thanks for that info!
Watch out for the price... 2gb will probably be very expensive.
Does the nokia use a RS MMC ( Reduced Size MMC ) or a normal MMC ?
This website sells both and I was wondering which one I should be ordering.

Thanks for any help!
It uses normal MMC. But RS MMC can also be used with a converter (although I would advise the normal MMC cards offcourse)

What about SD cards? I read somewhere that SD cards can be used in place of MMC cards......??? Is this reccommended?
No you can't! SD cards are a bit thicker, so they won't fit! MMC cards do fit in SD ports, but not the other way around!
FYI, I've now got a 1gb card in the phone and it works just fine - cost me 68 delivered!

Is there any... well, "functional" reason for the advice of going for the full size MMC? Eg. does it work better than a reduced size MMC in an adaptor?
Otherwise it would actually seem logical to prefer the reduced size card, since this will increase the probability that the same MMC-card can be recycled for use in his next phone. Many of the newer phone models does not support full size cards.

I like to use my 9300 as a mp3 player, does anyone know how many tracks can be stored on a 1GB or 2GB card and the best place to buy them?
I use a RS MMC of 64mb from my other phone, The 9500 recognized it but then I format the card using a card reader and put some movies and mp3s on it and now it always says that "memory card not ready"
I tried also to put out the battery, then place the card and start up the phone but it didn't help.
