Memory issue

Ive just got my nokia 6260, first impressions are its not bad.

however i have discovered that I cannot set my messages to use the memory card instead of the phone memory. the option under settings does not exist.

I have checked the instructions and the help file on the phone, Ive even double checked with my Nokia 3650 and I cannot find the option to allow this.
Im using O2 Uk as my network provider

can anyone help.

You can't do this. I don't think its really a problem though, there's plenty of room if you make sure everything else goes on the memory card.

I could do this with my 3650. My Bro can do it on his 6600.

If it is not an option on the 6260, then Nokia must have a reson for it.

Yes they have reasons:

one of them is the instability with the message in the Mmc the other will be the warez-scene and the N-gage game problem.
(without this feature it is not so easy to transfer the files.)

But imho it will be 4 stabiltiy reasons.

I dont care, with the 8 Mb memory in Phone it is not important, where my message are savet.

fair enough, 8Mb in the mem is enough.
still when youve got a full episode of South Park you want to watch on your mobile (simply because you can) It frustraiting when the file is 10MB and your phone wont accept it.

The reason you can't save the messages to the MMC is that the MMC can be removed with the phone on (hot swap) If you would have your messages located on the MMC it would crash your Symbian OS when you remove the mmc

Cheers 😊

How come it's in the manual that you can save it to your memory card? I remember my 7650 didnt have this option before when it first came out. I had it updated with a newer firmware and it enabled me to save my messages to the memory card. Hope this will be fixed soon (",)

I don't think it happened that way. Simply because the 7650 has no memory card (slot) at all. 😉 The feature didn't appear with a new firmware update, but first in the 3650.

Sorry about that, I meant the 6600.
