Hello,
I have been lurking for a few weeks now on this forum. I just bought a Nokia 3620 on Ebay a week ago (so, I figured I'd post about my thoughts of this phone so far). It seems like a pretty cool phone! I had a sidekick color before this, so I kind of miss the keyboard (the keys are WAY too small on this phone), but the large selection of software for it, by far, makes up for the lack of keyboard. I don't have a sync cable (and haven't bought a BT dongle for my comp yet), so I sync'd via IR on my laptop. It took me FOREVER to figure out where and HOW to sync it this way. I read the manual over and over and did not find any where in the book where it says exactly where this stupid IR port is on the phone. I finally found a thread that someone actually referred to the actual location (on the left side of the phone). I thought it was just part of the design of the phone. I didn't think it was an IR port because it wasn't clear like all the other IR's i've seen on phones/pdas (that and i'm an idiot 😉 ).
So, anyways, I sync'd it up with my laptop and downloaded FExplorer and Doom. I didn't think doom was going to work (been reading about all the heartache involved with getting it to work on the 3650 due to limited system memory). I was right.. It gave me a memory error. This morning, however, I went into the menu and click "quick reset" and tried running it again. It worked like a champ (I am guessing that because I have no other apps installed, it had enough memory to work). I was very suprised about the performance. It was actually playable (I am guessing somewhere between 10 and 15 fps). I want to try and use the sound now and see if it drops the framerate any. I don't plan on keeping this game on my phone, however, because it is too hard to actually "play" this game with the small keypad.
I am waiting for Tmobile take off my sidekick plan. Apparently, because I had this plan (atleast according to the CS rep on the phone), I had no free tzones (or any type of GPRS). So, I just told them to cancel sidekick plan and give me the 4.99 tzones. I used the auto configuration utility that Tmo has on their website (very easy.. just put in your number, phone, and they sms you the configuration.. you just click save to settings). We will see if I can actually connect (I have a feeling it will still not work tomorrow because everything I try to do with tmobile is like pulling teeth 😉 ).
Sorry about the long post. Just wanted to say "hey" and share my experience, thus far, with my new phone.
