Dear all,
Let's start with the support offered to customers by Nokia and Symbian. There isn't such a thing, no matter how hard I try/search. Nokia offers the well paied Nokia shops....
Here is the story:
After PC Suite failling to synch my contacts (calendar works fine) I walked into a Nokia shop to have the firmware flashed (15 Euros), thinking that this was the problem. Right after the flash I use Seleq and browse the folder where the Contacts.db resides. The flashing did nothing but just erase all the valid enties; the file size was 35KBs, while it used to be 55Kbs before the flash. This got my going...
I entered flight mode and deleted the Contacts.cdb file assuming that the Contacts app would be clever enough to create a brand new one (completly empty) when no file was found. So it did; great I thought.
So I restored by contacts using ContactsManager. Synching with Outlook via PC Suite worked smoothly.
A few days later and having made some change to my contacts I thought I'd synch again but I was supprised to see that the same problem occurred again. Here is what PC Suite reports in its log file:
---------
Synchroniser log file

Task Scheduler Synchronisation
Device contacts problem (unspecified error)
There was an error opening device Nokia 3650
Synchronisation completed.

How frustrating!!!! The pitty is that I have always been a Nokia fan and was really delighted when I read about the Symbian OS and the Series 60 devices. Now that I think of it, the sure thing is that my next phone won't be a Nokia one and it won't have Symbian Software on it.
Finally, before deleting the original/corrupted Contacts.cdb file I transfered it to my PC to have a look at it with a hex editor. It was of rubbish, contancts I have deleted ages ago along with duplicate entries. I can provide you with all these files should you wish to debug further your apps.
Kind regards,
Sterge
