We've GOT to develop drivers for this, and someone should sell replacement SmartCard/MMC doors that allow something to extend outside the door.

Wait . . . this won't work, will it? Because the 9290 only has an MMC slot. Damn.

It's an intriguing thing, but I don't see any point in it unless it has some storage on board. I personally don't send data to and from my 9210 that much and the IR port & data cable do the job fine for me. That card is going to have a crazy price tag if you look at the price of a similar device for a PCMCIA slot on a laptop, and tbh doesn't seem worth bothering with. You wanna ship datta back and forth, get a USB MMC reader/writer for 20 instead of an adapted MMC (given it's possible) for 200.

As for doing it to an MMC, I'm guessing it's doable given the similarities between SD and MMC, the only problem is that SD cards are bigger and as such have more space for hardware. There's "can it be done?" and "is it worth doing?" the first is probably a yes answer, the second imho is a no.

i am personally awaiting to untangle any wires connected by using bluetooth or wifi... imagine connection w/o wires??

of course IR does the job, but it ain't have the freedom to move around your devices!

I fundamently agree with you SwitchBlade, IR is fine for the limited transfers I make. I was really wondering if it was technically possible.

There are a myriad of benefits to using WiFi or Bluetooth to connect wirelessly. For one thing, you can synchronize in under a minute, no matter how big your contact database is. Internet surfing with your shared broadband is nice.

MMC is not capable of this type of device. SD is not even good enough. Technically, you have to have SD I/O - a special SD standard that allows high-speed input and output.
