I've tried installing a few application into my Nokia 6600, during installation it always pops up stating that the appliaction is not compatible to my device. is it because of the sysmbian version of its the application is build for specific phone?

What application (name, version and where you got it from)?
Note, that it is just a warning - which you can bypass - that does not necessarily mean that the application won't work (e.g., it might mean that the app was created with the Software Development Kit version for Series 60 1.2, or 2.1, and your phone is based on 2.0 = different).
If it is an UIQ or Series 80 application, then the warning is valid = the application will not work on a Series 60 device.
