Someone must have knocked some sense in the guys from Actimagine since they finally decided to offer a end user package of Mobiclip for the price of 15.90 euro. It has reached version 3.0 and it doesn't support every Symbian device. You can download a trial version here. Those who don't know what Mobiclip is, read on.

Mobiclip is a multimedia file format highly optimized for a full class display on mobile phones.

You can create contents with standard authoring tools like Adobe Premiere or Macromedia Flash and then convert them into the Mobiclip format(.MO) with Mobiclip Home Edition.

You can play the Mobiclip based contents on a mobile phone using the 65KB Mobiclip player.

Enjoy now video, games and animations full screen with a TV-like picture quality on mobile phones!

First of all I apologize for my English. Hope you can understand what I want to say.
I've seen many posts of GhostDog supporting Mobiclip due to its capability to play 24fps videos.
I think that Smartmovie is great to play 16:9 movies. The quality of the image is great and doesn't "jump" much. The problem appears when it comes to 4:3 movies, like TV shows. With this type of videos, as they don't have the wide black lines, you can use the whole screen (landscape mode) but this way although the quality of the image remains great, it jumps a lot when you see scenes with a lot of action. I almost dont have that problem, as my favourite TV show is "Friends", and they are most of the time chatting sitting in a sofa.
I converted an AVI into an MO file. The video is amazingly fluent but the quality of the image is much worst. Am I doing anything wrong?
I've also seen the sample video called MexicoSmall-2.mo, that you can download at mobiclip.com. I guess that they are showing their best quality but, although it's amazing how fast the wheel turns and the man moves his hands, I don't like the colors and the texture of the image.
Can anyone prove me wrong?
If mobiclip can give the same quality that Smartmovie gets and improve its "fluency" it would be great.
Thanks for your help.
By the way, I own an N-gage, just because it was the cheaper Smartphone with an STEREO MP3 player (my first priority). Now with Video Player, Dictionary, City Maps... I LOVE IT!

Well, thats it for the picture quality i'm afraid.I'm watching friends and using SmartMovie too.I know its unlikely that we'll see a movie player that has both, decent picture quality and high FPS playback but we can always hope.

Thanks for your help GhostDog. Thinking that there could be a better option than the one I'm using, was driving me crazy.
By the way, I forgot to mention that I use PocketDivXEncoder (freeware) to convert the "Friends" episodes to XVID's. This way you can use the 2-pass option of the XVID codec and also change contrast and volume.
Then I play these Xvid files on the phone using Smartmovie player.

I've read about using Virtual Dub with DIVX codec with these specifications:
- Video Size: 208x160.
- Fps: 15
- 2-pass with DivX 5.2:
- Medium Bitrate : 100 - 120 Kbps (depending on the final size of the file that you want).
- Maximun Bitrate : 150 Kbps (very important, to avoid jumping in high-motion scenes).
- Audio: 18 Kbps 16000 Hz, mono.
They say that limiting the maximum bitrate, the image doesn't jump and DIVX variable bitrate is used in a "more intelligent" way depending on the "speed" of the scene.
I tried to download DIVX 5.2, but right now only DIVX 5.2.1 is available and this one doesn't allow me (or I can't find how) to use variable bitrate.
Once again I hope my English is not driving you crazy, but it's hard for me to talk about technical things.
Thanks againg for your help.

PS: The good thing about being Spanish is that I can enjoy my favourite comedy with the nice subtitles (.SUB) that Smartmovie shows

I used to experiment a lot with third party applications like VirtualDub and different codecs but right now i use lonelycatgames supplied converter and codec - xvid encoder with options like: reduce frames, video bitrate around 128-112Kbps,16Khz audio around 24Kbps.I hope that helps
