I am new to the site and new to a Nokia 7610 and was wondering if any of you could point me in the right direction to any sites i could download free software, tones, and wallpaper for it or anything else useful

Try to search when using this in the future, there are plenty of links in existing threads. Just to get you started though,
on this site -> Software -> Series 60 freeware is a very good start page for free software.
Might want to try www.symbianthemes.com when it returns in december I believe, and also zedge.no
