My first thought of the 9500 after using it

Guys I got my 9500 last Thursday I am from Bahrain I got it for USD 1000!!!!!

These are some of the things that I hope will be useful to share with you.

I tried using my MMC from the 9210i on the 9500 though the icons came out on the screen but if I pressed anyone of them the phone will freeze and restart again. So I had to install a few programs which most of them do not work on the 9500

The is a program called Data mover you need to send this to your 9210 install it and then you can transfer the data such as calendar, contacts, images to your 9500.

Three thing that I really hate about this phone are.

1. The lock hatch is very very soft if you grab the phone to pick it up the inside will open very easy (hope you understand what I mean???)

2. For the ones who are used to 9210s and the talking from the back side rhis is a pain in the ass. yes the talking is from the front side but because I am used to the 9210 I tend to talk from the back side and when I relise this I turn the phone and bang I press the red button and the call s lost????

3. th nvikey onpheside is another bad thing everytime you want the menu it takes you to something else it is not accurate.

Other than that the screen inside is fantastic the keys are much better the phone is much faster now. You have an exit option everytime you open a folder or and application. The battary life is very very good and I like ythe idea that you can either use the mouse type key to navigate and you have four arrow buttons which is much easier to use.

if you are a fan of the 9500 go for it if you are not then I guess the best thing is the P900/910

Happy to answer any question guys.

Thanks for your first input! How stable is the software? I remembered from the time when I got my 9210, it felt like that the phone was released too early. I hope Nokia did not make the same mistake again.

I agree with the first and third question, although my 9500 never opened when I was talking. The second for me it isn't a problem because it's my first communicator so I prefer talk with thr front side.

About P910. I had a P800 for a year and a half, got my 9500 last saturday and for me there are 3 things in 9500 that really kills P910:

- True QWERTY keyboard where you can write with 2 fingers;
- A huge 640x200 hi-quality screen that allows to surf the web decently and work in Word, Excel or Powerpoint almost like a palmtop;
- WLAN.

I think that if your a fan of P910 you should take a better look at 9500. If your a fan of 9500 go ahead and buy it!!!!!

have you tried the wifi and can you access your computer files thru your communicator???

Yes. You can use a mp3 music for the ring tone, sms, mms and fax as well!
Cool!

Hi all,

Do you have any problems with N9500 and Outlook 2003? I can't get my Calendars sync'd.

I get the following error message (free translation from Finnish to English):
" SyncML server was not able to send the SyncML packet entirely to the SyncML client."

If anyone has same kind of problems, please share your experiences with us.

The N9500 has just been released here in the Philippines for 48,500Php (around 950USD)....What's your input on the WiFi? And the Camera capabilities??? 😊 I have a N9210 and switched to N6230, but I lost the N6230 last month so now im back with my N9210......
Are there significant differences with the N9210 and 9500???

Using WIFI is great. The Opera browser is a killer app (it comes w/ the 9500). Battery life is reduced when using WIFI and you cannot access files from other PCs in the network. Haven't tried it yet though with my Laptop using the ADHOC setting.

Hi Sabbath55,

i am thinking of getting 9500, how's your experience with the syn?

I have had my 9500 for about a day and a half. I have decided to transfer my data from my P910 to the 9500 as teh 9500 has much better support for business users. Also I am an old Psion 5 fan and I only moved to the "palm" like design (portrait and no key board) because there were no palmtop keyboard devices I liked. The 9500 has changed all that. The screen is fantastic and keyboard is very usable. And like any new device, you need to play with all teh features for a while before you learn about how to best exploit them. The only feature I have not found is how to sync Notes in Outlook with Memos on the 9500.

The 9210 didn't support that, so I wouldn't expect the 9500 to do it either - which is a really sad thing because it's so easy to use the notes for all thos small little things you need to carry around with you....
