youve probably heard the same old gaff from all the other a920 users but basically i have:

an a920 that was originally on 3 unlocked by some guy down the market so that it now accepts my o2 sim card and any other one. Id like to report that it works well as a fone so far. It has no IR or BT!

I discovered whilst using the desktop suite that the fone was able to access the internet through the usb cable. Its a kind of good idea and i suppose 3 customers have this already!

:icon4: what i would like to know concerning this is can i change the settings in anyway so that i can use it on o2? AM I THE ONLY o2 USER? Dont b shy!

:icon4: secondly i have a wireless network in my house is there any way i can take advantage of this and use my a920 to access the internet?

:icon4: Thirdly if i got a 128 external card for the fone would it accept it? is there a max card size it will take?

The fone is very neat but i know limited because of the network i know use? if any1 has conqured any of these issues please message me! i would have liked to have the GPS working but understand its impossible without 3!

If any1 can answer any of these then your help will be very much appreciated by myself!

thanking you in advance- madeleine X

No, for wireless connection to the internet from your phone you will either need a bluetooth dongle or an IrDA adapter. A USB BT dongle usually costs around $15-30 so I'd say it's well worth it.

Yes, 256MB is the maximum size recommended by Motorola. I am however using a Kingston 512MB SD card in my phone and it works just great.

i have one from my old sonyericsson 610! if i get bluetooth enabled on my a920 handset this may become a possibily!!! :icon14:

EXCELLENT NEWS YOU ARE A GENIUS SIR!!!!!

i was reading up about tracker 4- a program that allows skins to be over laid on yor fone! they sell some skins in the shop section of this site! have you ever done this or have u had any experiences you could pass on?

i need to do that thing with the signatures seems a complex procedure for something so tiny! but then again if 3 sort out the up grade half the problems cured!!!!

thankyou albatorsk

Tracker isn't really well suited for the A92x. Yes, it runs, but you can't make it autostart. I believe it has something to do with a bug in the A92x firmware where the phone will get stuck in an endless loop during bootup if something goes wrong (like, say, with autostarting software). If you don't mind starting it your self everytime you reboot your phone (you could make your shortcut key start Tracker, for example) then I have nothing bad to say about it. It is an excellent piece of software.

thankyou albatorsk

You're welcome 😉

iandaman,

The GPS receiver in the phone works without the 3 network.

Some of the newer software coming out for UIQ takes advantage of the GPS built into the phone.

Wayfinder & nhGPS do make use of the internal GPS, and as you're on O2 you can use these programs properly as you'll be able to get a GPRS connection to the servers.

Which firmware revision are you using? , without BT or IR it must be a very early version.

hi coltch im not sure of the firmware i got this from handset info on phone :REL 11.11.00.00!

so i can use the gps setup! at the moment whenever i accidently click the 3 triangle for the net it trys loading from 3! im sure if i take this to a o2 shop than can configure it to link to the o2 active menu thing.

i havent got bluteooth or iR so does that make it early? i really want to be able to run flash and that picodrive but ive got to get my phone sorted first!!

DO you think that 3 will help me even though ive had it unlocked so i may use my orange sim!

thanks for your info on tracker albatorsk again this is something i would like if i can get it "flashed"??

thankyou both for your support! 😊

3 is doing the update for free here in sweden, i cant for my life understand why they would charge in any other country. So in other words, go get you phone updated and get it called A-925 instead, get IR, BT, and possibility to use 3:rd party programs like Tracker, Office (Word, Exel).
And what i also recomend is to go to "my-symbian.com" and search for UIQ wares "AppickerConfig for Motorola A92x" and be able to change together with Tracker the meny bars on the top of the screen (Change aplication for ex "System" to "Tracker".... it will make life easyer. While there, take your time and search on full name "Motorola A-920" and serach in general for programs, ods are your gona find somthing thats usefull. And btw, AppickerConfig for Motorola is a donationware so its free. There is even (dont know how) a possibility to download from a P800, a file that makes it more likely the P800 sis files will work with your A-920. (I havent had a error yeat with any ware i have DL ... and belive me, i spenden some chash on it =)

Like i always love to say and will say again, there are to little support for this phone, Ericssons p800, p900 series are outblending us in every aspekts in usability.... the power in the phone is there for us, but its not showns in anyway.

btw... im still trying to find out how to unlock the damn 3 movie that comes with the phone everytime it starts up, i see it, i can touch it... but i cant get ridd of it =( .... i havent suxxeded, but i will =) (Or i will ask people til they help me =)

Now what this phone need is a Motorola A-**** series only page with lots of info... not another teen move =) ... he he i mean not another forum. A site that truly can unlock the possibilitys on this phone. And fuck 3, they dont know shit about this phone...at least not here in Sweden.

If anybody knows anything about unlocking the darn intro move... give me a mess at: [email protected]

You can change 3 animations on your A920/925

I's Start, Shutdown and Three animations, you can change

1. First make/find 3 .mp4 files du want to use

2. They must be called:
hutchison.mp4 = 3 animationen
motostartup.mp4 = Start
motoshutdown.mp4 = Shutdown

3. Make a folde called : C:/documents/startup

4. Copy those 3 .mp4 files to that folder

5. Shutdown your phone, and start again !!

TIP: If you take a picture, whit the phone camera, and rename it, to one of the 3 files, it will make startup much faster!!! 😃

I'm using a Sandisk 1GB SD card ... 70 off eBay ... bargain! (well it was at the time, I'm sure theyre cheaper now)

I have to say that that is pretty consistent with the image I already had of Three's service. They basically see their customers as a necessary evil to do business. Oh, and the customer is always wrong. Maybe you have heard of the scam they were running in Sweden, ripping people off. Money disappeared from peoples prepaid telephonecards, but Three refused to acknowledge that something was wrong or that they know about it, even though thousands of their customers complained. A couple of weeks ago it ended up in the tabloids, and Three had to repay the money they had stolen. Sigh.

So, anyway, don't you have any independant service centers in the area that can upgrade the firmware for you?

Thnx Getto, that was the best news in days ... i think i love you, tack s mycket ... btw, now i own all phones =) ..A-920, A-925 and th New A-1000 ... do i love em... i love em all =)

All who is thinking like i am, (In the need if a Bluetooth keyboard) was looking at "www.thinkoutside.com" and i noticed that now the "Motorola A-925" is in there list ... there is no software or product avialble. But as i happen to know, Thinkoutside is coming with a new patch fore more support in December.... may it be my lycky day =) ... im gonna worship my phone if there is a possibility to use a keyboard =) ...(Note to self *Your already doing that =)

Hmmm, it doesnt work.... just tryed it on my A-1000 and used a picture i took with the camera =(

Doesnt work on my A925 either ... I'm guessing thats beause those files on the UK flex are located in the A: drive ... it may be that in other flex's they are located on the Z: drive, which would allow you to override them using the method described above!
