philips comcorder pro
yes i know about that any others??
thanks
philips camcorder is shit, it only works good on 6600. i also am looking for a video recorder which records in a good resolution, a resolution that the 7610 is really capable of!
Completely agree with you there. Surely the phone is capable of better video than the standard player puts out. Especially when you consider the quality of the camera output/lens.
ryt got the answer yes philips camcoder, but listen its version 1.0.2 u need, i have this on my phone, its super!!!!!
i'll try to get that one.. lets see.. u seem impressed
although the philips only allows x2 zoom, but the 7610 is capable of double that!! you rekon there might be one that allows x4 zoom?
my m8 has the 6610 and his video qualiy is amazin, how embarassing 4 me.
shorly there is another app?
i have just got it, i'm not sure about amazing or anything but it takes a real long time for me to load on my 7610. am i the only one?

Nope, you're not the only one. The program takes ages to load on my 7610 too, and now I've had time to compare video between this program and the default Nokia one, I feel the difference in quality is negligable.
I might uninstall it, as the zoom only has two settings too. However it does have some quite nicely configurable brightness and contrast etc controls, so I might keep it for that. Could prove handy to use when videoing at night, or at a party inside etc.
James.
same here.. it takes time and i even tried philips camcorder version 1.0.3 but still cant get any good results.. there jus is no app yet that has been developed for the 7610s great video recording potential! 😞
i agree the 7610 is capable of well better video recording!! we must find an alternative

I totally agree
found any appps ne 1?
any better apps for video reording ion nokia 7610?
i was glad to finally see a reply in this thread and i thought u'd found one but u havent.. unfortunately i havent either.. there are just so many new phones coming out that developers are not concerened about the 7610 😞
😞 its not fair,
Im new to this forum but I have experience on the 7610, I found the video quality on the phone can be taken in to settings 176X144 and 128X96
The 176X144 is totally useless of which I agree with you but if you change the settings to 128X96 you will find the screen is smaller but images is captured much quicker resulting is a much smoother play back
The only problem is real player will stretch the video back to 176X144 so basically real one player reduce the pixels so it fits on 176X144 (even thou it was captured in 128X96)
To overcome this problem is to download Helix Player for Symbian OS, which will play the video in its original pixels
Hope this helps... if u need the file e-mail me and i'll attach the software
Good Man-thanks!!
... I think a lot of people are getting a bit confused about the video recording ability of the 7610.
The main barrier to the quality of recorded video is not the lens or CCD in the phone, but the processing power that is required to capture and compress 12-25 frames per second.
Have you not noticed the delay before clicking the 'shutter' and getting the final image when taking a megapixel photo? This time is taken up with JPEG compression and storage on the available media. Now imagine that delay multiplied by how ever many frames per second you are recording video at.
This is why we can currently only record video at such small resolutions and with such 'quick and dirty' MP4 compression methods.
So, until someone invents a 'super codec' that can compress without being 'lossy' (MP5 anyone?) or we get phones with much faster / dedicated video processors we are unfortunately limited to small grainy videos.

That makes complete sense now - thanks for explaning it.The main barrier to the quality of recorded video is not the lens or CCD in the phone, but the processing power that is required to capture and compress 12-25 frames per second.

well in the new firmware of the 7610, people who have it say that after clicking the photo u can immediately take another photo which means that the time that is taken is the time used to save the photo.. and in the new firmware that doesnt happen so i think a video recorder can be made for the 7610..
What about the enormous file sizes generated by megapixel video recording? Also, the video has to be buffered somewhere before writing thanks to the slow write speeds of most RS-MMC cards.
Compared with MP4 (3gp) encoding on the fly, JPEG compression is relatively simple which I suspect is why users with the new firmware are seeing the speed increase when taking JPEG images.
It's concievable that the phone may have the processing power to take megapixel video, but due to the bottleneck whilst writing to storage it's just not feasable.
I'd love to be proved wrong, believe me but I think this may be a pipe dream.
well not asking for megapixel resolution video recording but perhaps the highest the 7610 can give is surely better than 176X144 because it is surely faster then the 6600 and has a better camera so it can give better then that i believe..
too right!!
.
bump!
I've been trying this Philips Camcoder Pro on my 7610 but the quality is even worse than the internal recorder. Why are the recorded videos so blurry?! Does this happen also on 6600?
