I'm in Kolkata with airtel. Airtel provides both a free gprs (airtel live) and a 99/- buck one. . .
i cant manage to use opera with airtel... and havent tried with hutch. the customer care have no idea at all what opera is - most of them repeat save the settings -.

Is your phone 6600 ? Are you using GPRS regularly ? Why cant you use Opera ? Have you entered Port number in Advanced settings ? :icon14:

no, i have a nokia 3650, but all the same i still should be making opera work even if i had a 6600. i use GPRS (the free one as described previously) pretty frequently but i have to tweak it to make it work faster - i have to keep the "connection security" on to make as fast as Hutch's GPRS (hutchworld). The port no. (as given by airtel) is 8080, but after connecting to server comes, nothing loads.
Actually the other GPRS offered by airtel might work with opera because it provides full browsing on computer, but as i have the free one, which works pretty well with the built-in browser, i dont have much probs.

Yes it is true 😉 See Link Here . They have started service all over India except Pune it seems. Settings they will send you via service message when your connection is activated.

Customer service .... you have to call them at early hours like 4 am 😃

rohitkhannak wrote:nope, i downloaded opera 6.20 .... doesnt work.

Have you tried Netfront ? Its a pretty good browser and they give 45 days free trail also.....

BSNL has started GPRS only for its post paid customers at present. But you can get details of the settings and activation HERE . 😊

Naturally you will be able to connect only after you have activated the GPRS, for which you have to give a written request at your nearest Customer Servive Center.

Opera will never work if you havnt set up the connection proparly!

1. Contact you service provider and get your subscription prepared for INTERNET surfing. WAP-content wont do it!

2. Set up the phone to the certain internet acces point that is activated on yopur account. Opera has set up a nice page with many of the settings that you need to get connected. See this page:

http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/docs/connect/

If you cant surf with Opera, Netfront will not work either, so there is no reason to spend much time downloading Netfront.

Good luck!

What settings have you used in Advanced Settings ? Phone IP, Primary Name server, Secondary Name server, Proxy server, Proxy Port etc .

And what average speeds are you getting ? kbps ? 😊

Siddharth wrote:me from delhi, Hutch with 6600 and yeah grps activated and opera works.

Are you using HutchWorld or HutchWWW??

eBast wrote:What settings have you used in Advanced Settings ? Phone IP, Primary Name server, Secondary Name server, Proxy server, Proxy Port etc .

the adv settings are as follow

phone ip address : Automatic

Primary name server : 0.0.0.0

Secondary Name Server : 0.0.0.0

Proxy Server Address : 10.10.1.100

Proxy Port Number : 9401

and also in opera go to

Settings ==> Advanced and than

enable proxy : on

HTTP Proxy Host : 10.10.1.100

HTTP proxy Port : 9401

These are the setting which work for me.

whatz the difference...?

i pay 99Rs for gprs and mms together.

Wirelessly posted (Nokia3650/1.0 SymbianOS/6.1 Series60/1.2 Profile/MIDP-1.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.0)

If u pay 99 bucks per month, then its hutchworld you're using. Actually hutchwww allows you access on internet as well (i think!). I know for sure hutchworld doesnt allow access on the comp.

Hi,

Any IDEA subscriber here (Delhi) ?
I think IDEA dosnt allows GPRS for Prepaid subscribers. So i guess, i would have to surf net through my PC's bluetooth connection...

Thanks Siddarth, for the settings! I didnt know you had to input something in the HTTP Proxy Host!

Hii there

GPRS has not been intorduced in Pune and also in Nagpur, as both are in same circle!

btw, tht unlimited plan of GPRS ( 349 plan ) ? will I be able to connect my PC thru my 6600's GPRS and surf?

and wht does P2P and M2P mean?

to 6600user_sumit :
You can call Nokia Care - (30303838). I also live near Kolkata. You can try at the Park Street Nokia Professional Center abt updating firmware - but I doubt whether they can help you.
