[POP3] Why no SSL on 6600?

Hi there. I'm new here, so please excuse me if I tread on anyone's toes with this post.

I just got my 6600 and I love it. I'd previously enjoyed Symbian on an N-Gage, but this is much more like it - a REAL smartphone.

Yesterday, I found out that Gmail is now accessible via POP3. Unfortunately, the 6600 doesn't appear to support SSL for POP3 connections. SMTP is fine, so I'm in the ludicrous position of being able to send mail via Gmail, but not receive.

Does anyone know if there's a way around this? A third-party app maybe? I don't suppose a firmware upgrade would add SSL support?

I'm hoping that some kind soul will make a POP3/Gmail client for Series 60 phones.

Thanks all.

Hi.

I asked a similar question yesterday but haven't got a response yet. I too want to use it for Gmail...not only do you/we need SSL, but also need to change the ports! Have tried a couple of other clients, but they're really not very good...
