6600 newbie - mmc backup question

1 replies · 2,098 views · Started 21 November 2004

hi everyone, got a 6600 as a gift and it came with some pre-installed application in the 32mb MMC, like Ulead Photoexpress, opera browser, quickword, etc.....

just want to ask if there's any way to backup or transfer the the contents of the 32mb MMC to a new 128mb MMC w/out the need of re-installing all this application. I have read about using a card reader but have no access to one or have no plans of buying one.

since this applications came pre-installed the installation files are not available to me.

would a back-up using the pc suite be enough? or there is another safe and guaranteed way of copying the installed apps making sure they will all work after the upgrade of the MMC?

thanks for the help in advance..

6600 PC Suite backup would be enough, however note the list of things not backed up in the BackupExclusionList.dat file in the PC Suite installation directory. The file can be edited to remove exclusions listed there.

You could also use a PC-based memory card reader (copy files off the old card to PC, insert new card and copy files to new card).
