Recover contacts from backup ?

Hi, im also having problems to get PC Suite 6.4 connecting with my 6260.

The Bluetooth Suite that comes with my BT device can send and receive files to/from the phone, is just pc suite that cant detect it.

Before i exchange my 3650 with this 6260 i backed up my 3650 with the old version of pc suite. So what i want to know is if theres any way i can extract my contacts and calendar files from the backup DAT files. I know wich DAT file have the contacts, i just want to know if theres any way i can extrat it so i can send it to my 6260.

thanks a lot

Restoring files from the backup of a different phone isn't a very safe/reliable option.

If you still have the 3650, I'd use its PC Suite and sync with, e.g., Outlook (and then use the new phone's PC Suite to sync again).

You could also try apps such as SmartvCard to export/import contacts.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

No i dont have the 3650 anymore. That Smrtvcard app is used in the phone or in the pc? Cause my contacts file is inside a 1045.DAT file in the backup of my old phone, what i need is some way to extract this file and then copied to my new phone...

thanks

can you open the contents of the dat file into something like notepad? at the very least, you would have a readable record of your contacts. from this you may be able to work some kind of translation of the contacts into outlook and then do a sync to get the contacts to your 6260. it may be a very painful cut and paste excercise though!

The laborious way for at least getting at the contacts data: Download the Series 60 SDK 1.2, install it, locate the contacts file in the emulator, replace it with the file from the backup, launch the emulator & the Contacts app in the emulator.
