Localization

I am trying localize my Series 60 app to different languages, and information on the supported languages on various Series 60 platforms (specifically 1.2 and 2.0) is very sparse. Where can I find more information on supported languages (fonts, encodings, rendering, input methods, etc.) on these platforms?

Specific languages I am interested in are Tamil and Hindi...

Thanks!

Tapan

I could be wrong, but I don't think there is any Tamil or Hindi support at all in Series 60 (on any Series 60 phone).

I don't think you really need to trouble yourself about Fonts and input methods, because if there is indeed Hindi & Tamil on the Series 60, then the input methods and Fonts already come with the localized devices. I think you should mostly concern yourself with localizing the resource.

As far as resources are concerned, there's a nice article about localization (by yours truly) in newlc.com : http://www.newlc.com/article.php3?id_article=443

hello,

there is a tool called StringDB localization and multilingual applications.

it is very powerful because supports all languages and characters. (UNICODE, UTF-8)

you just fill in the MS EXcel for translation and string management.

it is also OS and platform independent.

you can check this at www.swbox.com
