😃 I am currently using a wav file as my ringtone. And I am sure there are a lot of us who are doing the same thing.
😃 Currently, I am using a song that I ripped from a CD( copied it using windows media player & converted the file using multimedia converter pro)...What's Love by Ashanti.
The problem is that I am using the whole song as a ringtone. I was hoping if I just could use the refrain of a song.
:-? Is there any FREE program that could cut a wav/ wmv file?

Wav as Ringtones
Go to Maz sound tools www.maz-sound.com (I last knew) and he has all sorts of free and shareware sample editors there. 40 seconds is what you get before your answerphone kicks in so best stick with that much. Don't forget to convert to mono to save space. I currently use the main riff from the hardcore mix of the Cape Fear theme by Sy & Unknown. Pukka ringtone.
Standard Sound recorder in Windoze will do the job.
Open the file, go to the start point that you want, select Edit, then select delete before current position. Next go to the last point in the WAV that you want as your tone, then select Edit, delete after current position, then save the WAV file.
But as Switchblade has suggested there are lots of WAV editor out there that are probably easyier or better to use.

😃 I have tried downloading some freewares where Switchblade recommended. Some of them were quite "low-tech" and some of them were not user-friendly. But I still plan to play around w/ the softwares I have downloaded.
If I cant get the desired result, I will try standard recorder. Never realized it was there all along. 😃

or you can use your communicator's built-in "Recorder" -- it can "crop" your big wav file... :P
The built-in recorder can easily do the job. I recorded my current ringing tone with it and then "put it into shape" on the 9210. If you'd like to rather work in Windooze, sound recorder can definitely help you! 😉
