Software update for the 7610

My dealer told me Nokia has issued a software update for the 7610. He did not know any details of the update, except that "it was a fix for a number of small bugs".
Does anyone know what the update contains? The only problem I have is that the voicedials never work. Will it fix that?

There is an update available ( see previous messages re Shortcuts on 7610 keyboard ) although my local Nokia care centre hasn't actually got the software in yet!

I rang my local Carphone Warehouse and apparently the Nokia engineer has been trained on how to do the upgrade, but hasn't got delivery of the firmware

It'd be great to use the up down right left on the joypad for shortcuts, guess I'll have to make do with Go TO for now...

Don't know if the upgrade will fix the bugs you mention though.

You CAN use the top left right and down buttons on the navigation circle.
Go to menu, settings, telephone settings and you can specify each click of the navigation button.

This is from symplification site:

Latest 7610 firmware: V4.0437.4, 15-09-04, RH-51 (and is the one I got done)

There have only been two firmware revisions for the Nokia 7610, the list below shows the changes in the second; you definitely want to upgrade if you have the older firmware.

Fixed: It is now possible to set ringtone volume on maximum and use vibration without issue.
Fixed: The birthday "year" in the Calendar after Outlook Sync is no longer always 1980.
Fixed: The messaging application now saves custom dictionary terms through reboots
Fixed: The messaging application no longer crashs upon input of certain words.
Feature: Assign shortcuts to Directional Pad.
Feature: Responsiveness improved.
Feature: Camera now has option not to show captured image immediately.

Which firmware version do u have?

I have V 4.0437.4 15-09=04 RH-51
The software update I mentioned has not been installed yet (dealer has a problem apparantly), but i can certainly put 5 shortcuts on the 4 way rocker switch

after updating my firmware to

v4.0437.4
15-09-04
RH-51

my alert tones have reduced its volume, my 2nd to the last volume for alert tones, has decreased volume of my previuos firmware, is this a bug? i hoping on the next release, they could add a bluetooth serial port

With a firmware upgrade to 4.0437.4, I've found my 7610 to be more responsive in browsing through menu and apps, faster in capturing images (preview disabled) and more convenient with those d-pad shortcuts.

It's great. I haven't experienced anything buggy yet ...

and my recorded amr ringtone, that has pausing sound after 5 second, it is gone when i updated my firmware

Oh ... 😮
I just realized that my skips have gone too! 🙄

Wow ... interesting 😊

I just realized that my skips have gone too!

Skips? of what? please do explain. Actually the thing is I never used the phone more than an hour before going to the NSC to update the firmware, so I really cannot comment other than with the 4.0437, mostly everything is working quite ok.

Well ... on the firmware v4.0421.4, when we played those *.amr files there are located in:
E:/Sounds/Digital (these files are used by Movie Director)
When we played these *.amr files, the skipped every few seconds in RealOne Player.

Everyone was asking why. Well ... no need, cause apparently its fixed in firmware versions 4.0424.4 and beyond!

@nk_au: is it great! hehehe i thought it is a poor recording on N6230

@sandeep: well if you recorded an amr, you will notice that every 5 seconds it skip/pause for a one milesecond

What about the 4.0441.0 version? I heard that's the latest one. What are its advantages over 4.0437.4?

I think 441 is for 6670, not for 7610. Not heard too much about it yet, though. I would like to know what they have fixed, if at all 441 is for 7610...

Hello -

Is there is any other firmware update after :

4.0437.4 15-09-04 RH-51

FaMeL! When you enter the code to see the firmware version on your phone screen, a date will also be shown. Would you kindly tell me what it is?

sandeep108 wrote:But nobody seems to have any details on the 4.0441 as to what it fixes/adds/improves.

I'll talk no NSC about this version. Still Change History in this would be great !!!

My nokia 7610 firmware/software version is

V 4.0441.0ch
08-10-04
RH-51

any newer update than my ver.??

How do I check the phone's firmware version ? What code I need to type to get the version ?

Still nobody knows about the advantages of the latest firmware (V 4.0441.0, 08-10-04) over V 4.0437.4?
