To save a little money I got my sendo x from Pixmania in france ( i live in the UK) So my sendo x is a 8Y0H - 13171 (French model). Do I have to wait for the new french firmware, or can i use teh englsih one?

I also have a French one and tried the English one and it did not work.
My SPN is 0000-00000-00000 and thought this meant I could use all variants, but sadly I can't. The only way to do this would be to hack the update files...
Oh well. have to wait i guess. and then navigate the french menu system again to change to english!

Yes moomin, you have to wait for the French firmware (which shouldn't be too much longer).
mart-is-good, a Sales Pack of all zeroes is not good, are you sure? Check the label under the battery, do not rely on what it says in the About screen inside the phone.

Under the battery I have the proper French code, but in the about screen it says all zero's.
I was hoping the update tool would check only this number from the phones eprom and if it found all zero's would allow all variants. Sadly Sendo have added other checks 😞

Lets find a way to hack the installer files. I really want the English version. I am sure others would too.
Also, would changing the battery change the SPN on the phone? Maybe then allow different f/w updates?

The SPN code is written into the ROM of the phone, changing the battery won't allow you to change it, and I doubt anyone will find a way of hacking the installer files to enable you to "de-brand" a firmware release...
The English (Expansys) and French (Pixmania) firmwares are 99.9% likely to be identical anyway!
Perhaps Sendo could make the French firmware available early to those of us on the forum who don't live in France or even speak French, but who quite surprisingly wound up with a French phone!
Also I have a French version with a SPN of only zero's, bought it thru Nomatica.
I used the Portugese firmware (tired of waiting for the French one) and it works perfectly. Also the Dutch one is supposed to work.

Yep, the Portugese firmware does install on Pixmania handsets, I've tried it myself!
