Well, it looks like I went from slightly screwed, to
royally screwed. As another message has noted, a lot
of my phone's problems started when I installed the free
full-caller id picture software from Siemens' mobile website.
I had more crashes than ever, and an intermittent problem
where the speaker in the phone would not work requiring
me to use the headset to make calls. It may or may not be
a hardware problem though. I did some hard resets and
nothing seemed to change.
I was still experiencing some glitches with the phone due to
the hard resets. Many of my games and programs would
still be on the phone, but they weren't listed in the manager
for the applications installed. When I tried to use a few of them
the phone would crash. When I tried to see one of the pictures
that came installed with my phone (the SX-1 McLaren version)
the phone would crash. So I reinstalled the software this morning,
version 12, McLaren, UK-English version.

It went through fine. Then it was still
crashing on some things, so I reformatted the memory
card to get things back to square one. Still fine.

Then, the McLaren videos and such were gone so I
decided to reapply the software image again. I left the phone
with a FULL battery (I was charging it when I did the mem
card format) and all I saw when I came back to my desk
was a message on the screen of my desktop pc for the install
program that the install failed. Now the phone won't power
on anymore, which according to the SX-1 FAQ here, means I have a
dead phone that needs to be sent back to Siemens. My
anger level with this thing is pretty high right now!

This phone started out as a huge, love-it relationship. Lately
as I have used it more, I've discovered more and more bugs in
things. I have also noticed the ringer volume reduction in version
12 that some people had mentioned. This past weekend I just
bought a bluetooth headset by Motorola that worked great. Now
I just can't use anything and have no phone. I'm going to call
Siemens right now. Unfortunately, I need to get a copy of the
receipt for warranty work from the person I bought it from on
ebay. She has been very helpful and said she'd send it to me,
but I can't send the phone in until I get that.

Is anyone else having MAJOR problems like this with their SX-1?

Mine is now a paperweight until further notice.
