Hello

Is there any other player we can install in the 9500 that can play other video formats besides MPEG4?
I have tons of funny and cool videos that I want to share to everyone but there are in WMV and AVI format.
Or can someone tell me where I can get a FREE software where I can convert these videos to Real Player format?
Thanks.

Andrew

The media player in the PCSuite converts from those formats to 3GP/MP4, but I warm you now, the 9500 is far from a good media player, it's the worsed smartphone i've used with media so far!, 9210 with the .nim formats are better.

I've tried resizing video with other converters and there are like bits where the video freezes for 5 seconds, the 9500 just can't seem to handle video at all well.

The 9500 can indeed be a good media player. You don't only need a decent converter, you also need a decent software to play back the vids. The default RealPlayer isn't any good. People need to start bombarding Lonely Cat Games' mail box and ask them to port over their excellent SmartMovie player.

Done that, Smartmovie should work well on the 9500, but current perfomance doesn't fill me with enthusiasm 🙄

I don't think it's fair to judge the 9500's multimedia capabilities just by using the default RealPlayer. RealPlayer simply is a cr@ppy piece of software. It's the same with the default RealOne player on S60 and PVPlayer on UIQ, but SmartMovie works really well on both of those platforms. And it should (in theory) work even better on the 9500 - which has much more powerful hardware.

I was refering to general performance, not video/multimedia 😉

But you are of course right on the multimedia thing 😊

i got smartmovie for my 9500 from handango but why its not working. whenever i open, i recieve a message "unable to find the specified object"

anybody knows something about this?.. i think i jst wasted my money buying this application 😞

Ehm, SmartMovie is not available for the 9500 (yet). You must have a bought the UIQ or S60 version - which is not compatible with the Communicator. You should ask Handango for a refund.

They should. I'm sure you're not the first person to make such a mistake.

Btw, welcome to the forum. 😊

I converted all my videos to .rm for playing with Real Media Player. They play really good and never stop.

The link says .avi is the standard format. Does SmartMovie aslo handle .mpeg / .mpg formats?

What utility do you recommend to convert .mpeg/.mpg formats to .rm?

Thanks.

It support XVID, DIVX etc. formats which are much smaller in size than MPEGs. SmartMovie also comes with an easy to use converter where you can convert those MPEGs to a format supported by SmartMovie. You should give it a go. 😉

I used RealProducer Plus 10 to convert to .rm It supports mosts types of videos like.avi/.mpeg/mpg etc.

Hello, I would say Black Phoenix did down load the correct version. I downloaded the software from the Lonely Cats WWW site and have the same error. What I did do though was install the codec on the 9500 and the player then created a AVI with Virtual Dub. I can say this worked when I ported the file to the 9500. I have emailed Lonely Cats and had a very fast response. I have yet had the time to answer their questions. On another note, the XL problem, I removed SP2 from my laptop and XL files now work a treat both ways.

Now I just wait for Nokia to sort the OS in the 9500 it is so slow. Real pity you cannot upgrade firmware on the net like you can with the P910.

Dude, I downloaded the wrong version. I got the UIQ version. 😞

What settings do you use for converting movies using the converter provided with SmartMovie?

Any suggestions please.

Thanks.

btw, i emailed lonely cats and they helped me out with my issue regarding the refund. 😊

right now, im using the series 80 version. 😊

Glad to hear it worked out. 😊

What do you think about it?

well... of cors i can now play avi files. the good thing about it is that it comes with the converter which is very useful. you can choose the codec of your choice.

What kind of video(s) do you want? Suggest some, if I have, I'll convert and give you the link(s). And tell me in which format do you want? AVI or 3GP?

Wow. Thanks for the offer. I really appreciatte it.
Any format will do as long it will run on the default Real Player in the 9500. What kind of videos? Hmmm.... Funny clips, adult clips, cool clips, music video/ trailer clips.

Thanks.
